These add to an already extended range of Oathmark plastic kits, covering Elves, Dwarfs, Greenskins and Humans. And are out there on the market, along with a few other undeads made from plastic in 28mm: Speaking of skeletons, these are some guys I assembled a while ago; they aren't extensively converted, just some tweaks here, and a reposition there - plus a head or weapon swap. The spearman is WGA too, tweaked with an Oathmark helmet - to mark them as a leader for the spearmen unit. In that respect the book provides a wide range of Kingdom Events to be rolled for after each battle. Be they harmful or beneficial, these Events influence your kingdom and the armies and abilities with which you can fight your next battle. Think failed coups, horse shortages and plagues. Rolling for these events may sound a bit clinical but they actually offer great opportunities for an ongoing narrative. The archers. Warriors with Swords. 10 Spearmen with smaller shields. 10 Spearmen with larger shields. The Necromancer. This guy could also be used as a standard bearer.

Personally, I am going to try to get into the advanced rules as soon as I start playing, but that is just how I roll. Now, let’s take a little look at some of the advance rules in this Oathmark review. Faction of Demons (Im not in love with them, but a lot of players could be attracted to Oathmark with it, and I think thatOathmark could be real successorof WHFB, but only if every former player finds a place for his army...) From left to the right, I gave them a spear, the banner pole, a bow, an axe and a sword. The ball joints of the arms and shoulders make for more dynamic poses, compared for many other plastic kits that have flat connection surfaces for arms. This way the whole arm can rotate far more freely and not only alongside the body.

Oathbreakers has s urprisingly nothing, not even the box art of the already available Skeleton Infantry... This is going to be part of the new 28mm plastic kit which will support the Oathbreakers expansion. In that book ( which we looked at earlier in the week) you'll find options to introduce the undead into your Oathmark campaigns and these miniatures can make up the bulk of that force. On top of producing a box of skeleton infantry, North Star Military Figures also created special figures for your undead army. Those are a lot of components, but if you are buying these to fulfill an army, keep in mind those tallied numbers. If you want large numbers of Skeleton Archers, this might not be the kit for you. If you want a bunch of Skeletons with some decent options, this very well could fit the bill. Miniatures Built with Wargames Atlantic Skeleton Warriors Box Set As this is a mass combat game, you will find benefits to taking larger troop sizes for your infantry models. The maximum number of troops of one type that you can take is four and the maximum figures in a unit is 20. This means that you can field no more than 80 of a single model type. For most this won’t be a problem. We're already at the point of adding final touches, handing three of them a shield, the archer a quiver and the top bar for the standard.

I like the way Mac's mix of Dark Age Irish bits and halflings works out, and I think the upcoming WA Dark Ages Goths set looks like it'll include some great bits for halflings as well: the head-swaps look much better than I expected! Grumpy Gnome suggested using the WA Persians as a source of odd gnomish hats, which sounds like a fantastic idea, and I think they'll work great on your project. The Persian bows and quivers can probably be adapted to work on the Halflings, with a little work. I think some people might be turned off by the 25mm base requirement, as many other systems use 20mm bases. That said, I think it is a small problem to have. Rather than re-basing your figures, just toss them on larger movement trays, or go with 20mm bases if your opponent is cool with that. I certainly would not make my opponent re-base their army just to conform to the rules above. The WA Afghan kits ought to mix in great with some Persianized Halflings - the turbans, swords and old-fashioned Afghan guns would make some very interesting Halfling soldiers, though adapting the guns to halflings might require some creative modeling - I've not tried it, but it would be an interesting project! The little Afghan shields are perfectly sized for halflings.

Battlesworn, as the title suggests, has elite units as its central theme. The book offers rules to enhance units that perform exceptionally well in battle with Battle Honours. While giving an RPG-like taste by individualizing units like this, Battle Honours can actually be used (sparsely) on the battlefield itself by re-rolling dice. The book offers rule suggestions for gaining Battle Honours which can also be lost and regained. These elite units are tough and might even overcome destruction or Breaking. I found the activation method in this game less frustrating than Dragon Rampant. You roll against your Activation number. If you pass, you can perform your full action (two actions). If you fail, you can still do a partial action. In Dragon Rampant, you don’t get to go at all and you lose your turn. Advanced rules in Oathmark mostly include rules for characters. We are talking about Commanders, Spellcasters and Champions. When you sport a character, you can choose to fight with the entire group that the hero is in, or with the hero alone. When you go with the hero alone, you get to use the hero’s statistics and the models in the unit essentially become his (or her) hit points. Unlike other games, heroes are not super powerful. While you might choose to fight with your hero alone, there will be plenty of times that you will be better off using the fight stats of the unit they are in instead of fighting individually.

So what caught me with the Oathmark ones? First of all, they are generic and can be used widely, not overdrawn like the Mantic ones, not the Harryhausens like Wargames Factory or Atlantic ones, and not 32mm+ as the most recent Games Workshop iteration. In this post you will see the plastic sprues of the miniatures, some completed (and painted) figures, plus the Champions and Characters available to the army. A video review of Wargames Atlantic’s 28mm Plastic Skeleton Warriors Miniatures. This video contains over 70 images and is well worth a watch.

Northstar's Frostgrave Crewmen and Wizards I kits include some heads wearing turbans and some miscellaneous weaponry and spell-casting gear that might come in handy for your project as well. These seems to be confirmed by fresh news on Wargameterrain: "We will have a regular release schedule for plastic Oathmark figures this year, including: Human Cavalry, Dwarf Light Infantry, Revenants, Orcs and Goblin Lt Infantry."
