Cannot understand this review at all. This is the sort of record I've always feared Frank would make. Every other line is a clanger, the instrumentation is woefully uninspired and he even tries to do a falsetto. I can't understand how anyone who genuinely loved EKMB or LI&S could think this was anything more than a 3/5. It's interesting that you mention the similarities to The Counting Crows because I believe he played some songs with them when they were touring here a couple of months ago. He covered one of their songs at his show here too. a b Paine, Andre (20 April 2013). "It's a punk-folk thing: Frank Turner Interview". London Evening Standard . Retrieved 25 April 2013. Frank Turner seriously stepped up his production game for this 2013 release, hiring Muse producer Rich Costey, known for a sensibility for tiny details. Departing from Anglocentric lyrics (except on The Fisher King Blues and Broken Piano) and, to some degree, from punk, it’s his most accessible, and arguably strongest, album to date.
