Additionally, I wish that the book had included *some* sort of actual storyline rather than “just ending because they had reached then end of the pages for the book. Unicorn NOT Wanted is a different and funny children's picture book about a unicorn and a Pug who want to join in the story, but the narrator doesn't want them to.Overall, it was cute, but I wish it had a little more substance and one less dramatic temper tantrum.

This isan anti-unicorn, unicorn story, which pokes fun at the never-ending stream ofunicorn books, but then becomes what it sets out not to be. The illustrations are energetic and funny, and the unicorn and pug continue to insert themselves in the author's Wild West story in amusing ways. Appreciation is extended to the author, to Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Children's Books, and to NetGalley, who provided access to this title in exchange for an honest review. Egged on by an equally enthusiastic pug, the unicorn is keen to show how brilliant unicorns can be, resulting in a lively explosion of colour and vitality on every spread. The 6th-century Greek merchant Cosmas Indicopleustes, who travelled to India, believed a unicorn's power was all in its horn: 'When it finds itself pursued and in danger of capture, it throws itself from a precipice and turns so aptly in falling that it receives all the shock upon the horn, and so escapes safe and sound. I loved the bright colors, the detail and the derpiness of the Unicorn and pug who DEFINITELY were not supposed to be in this book that ISNT at all about unicorns (or pugs). With gorgeous underwater scenes and a crowd-pleasing tale, this is one little mermaid who is here to make a splash!

This is an anti-unicorn, unicorn story, which pokes fun at the never-ending stream of unicorn books, but then becomes what it sets out not to be. In the hilarious eighth book of this blockbuster graphic novel series, Narwhal and Jelly celebrate the spookiest time of the year — Halloween — with a super twist! I really enjoyed the playful art style and the silliness of how the unicorn and pug disguised themselves in an effort to try to be included in the book.

My daughter, who's 6, loved the fact that the author/ narrator's voice was very present in the book and made her feel very included. Thanks to NetGalley and Happy Yak Hardcover for the advanced copy so that I could provide an honest review.
