Description

I enjoyed the range of filament colors (there's even a clear plastic one, which looks sweet) but you can't really change them out until you use the current filament up or reverse it out of the pen, which is time-consuming.

All-in-One Kit: Designed to easily integrate hands-on 3D creation and tactile learning into your classroom for less than the cost of a 3D printer. plastics have been tested for heavy metals, and have undergone full toxicological risk assessments, passing each and every test. The extruded filament is hot but only for a very short time – normal supervision and instruction will be sufficient to ensure teachers can confidently allow 3Doodler to be used in their classroom.

The easy-to-use Create+ pen extrudes heated plastic which hardens rapidly, allowing you to draw in 3D, freehand, or using stencils. contains a mini, handheld 3D printer in the form of a pen that's fun to use and has lots of creative potential. What's cool about these kinds of designs is that you can make the same thing multiple times and improve in your technique each time.

Improvements include greater control in fast/slow speeds for different Doodling techniques, more reliable performance with different plastic types, greater durability, and new monochromatic pen colour. Its easy-to-use, uncomplicated technology, slim design, and companion tutorial videos ensure kids experience success - right out of the box. With over 70 colours* available in the extended range in more than 3 different types of materials, the possibilities are endless. The display of third-party trademarks and trade names on this site does not necessarily indicate any affiliation or the endorsement of PCMag. Because 3Doodler uses the same materials as 3D Printers, it can even be used for repairing, beefing-up or modifying 3D printed parts without the need to edit a CAD file and run the job again. is an ingenious hand-held device that not only feeds, melts and extrudes the filament but finely controls the process too. This enhanced design with a new drive system is faster, stronger, compact, slim, light and easy to use. You can't just load the filament in the back—you really have to use some force to jam it in and make sure it gets picked up by the intake gears at the bottom.

The pen I tested had two settings: Hi and Low, but pictures of the pen in the manual showed a different model, on which the settings say ABS/FLX and PLA (those are the two different types of plastic filaments, the hi-temp ABS or Flexy plastic and the low-temp PLA plastic). You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. In addition, the original Hi/Lo button is changed to ABS/FLXY and PLA buttons, making users to find appropriate temperature based on the plastic characteristics. I recommend new users to keep it on the slow setting until you feel comfortable using it, as once it starts extruding, it won't stop until you switch it off. It is perfect for use with stencils; simply place the stencil under your DoodlePad, trace over it, and then lift up your creation after it cools! for kids ages 8 and older includes stencils and construction blueprints for projects such as a geodesic dome and a five-axis arm.

It's a bit too limited right now for a lot of people to have the skills to use it in this way, but perhaps a future version of the pen could be used for these purposes. Previously he has worked as a local reporter and photojournalist in Brooklyn, NY and is a graduate of the Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY in New York. This setting is important, as using the wrong temperature and plastic combination will result in less-than-optimal results.
