One doesn't have to be a cyclist, a fan of the sport or even know anything about a bike to enjoy this book. Jenny holds the female world record and her story is badass, listening via audiobook is highly recommended - Jenny narrates in her lovely Scottish accent, and it includes actually clips from her audio diaries she recorded on the ride. In 2018, over the course of 18,000 miles, Scottish cyclist Jenny Graham smashed the round-the-world cycling record by nearly three weeks, finishing in 124 days and 11 hours.

Jenny’s background in social care has fuelled her passionate and drive to promote equality and opportunities in the outdoors and over the years has dedicated her time to such projects. They had come out with me to Germany to film the start, in the hope that I’d make it far enough self-shooting for them to make a documentary. a reminder of what a positive mindset, daily intentions, the kindness of strangers and the love of friends enables even when very far away. After some discussion of her early years and a background to the round-the-world motivation, the book turns into what is best described as a candid journal.

provide a real-life recount of her in-the-moment thoughts, from bears and snakes to pelvic floor problems. Ihre Welt beschränkt sich nur auf ihr Rad, ihr Ziel und wenige Kontakte mit ihrem Sohn und ihrer Familie. She hadn’t yet earned her name ‘Little Pig’ – that would come later – but the golden mustard steel frame of my Shand Stooshie bike had already become my companion. Without trying to sound too much like a teacher, I'd say, as with most presentations about books, try to read the book before you go to the talk (if you plan to); you'll get so much more out of it.

On the other hand, it's definitely possible to sense when she is riding through impressive landscapes or witnessing a natural spectacle; things slow down just a little and her writing becomes more descriptive. I wish to thank Bloomsbury Sport for providing a copy of the book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Refreshing that her endeavour was with minimal sponsorship and you get a real sense of someone who made every opportunity for herself, while being helped by the kindness of strangers along the way. I was introduced to Literary agent James Spackman, who is a cycling enthusiast so we spoke the same language. Long Sleeve Jersey is stacked with features that make it ideal for everyday cold weather rides - without having an everyday feel.Absolutely loved listening to this an as audiobook as Jenny Graham recounts her story in a hilarious and honest style.
