Description

Mids can take a bit of a backseat to the highs (very obvious in instrument-heavy Meat Loaf songs), but a properly-mixed track will present vocals and most instrument sounds quite nicely. The DT 770 PRO is a reliable tool for studio monitoring, mixing and mastering, as the highly sensitive transducers ensure the smallest adjustments in panning, EQ or dynamics can be easily heard. These headphones are designed for optimum listening quality in situations where open headphones would be inappropriate, the lightweight diaphragm, which is around one-fifth the mass of that used in other Beyerdynamic designs, gives high-end transparency that challenges that of electrostatic headphones. I’d already had some experience with the DT 770 Pros, so I didn’t feel the need to go into some of my usual “baseline” tunes, such as Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car,” to see if they were listenable.

However, the bass range was a little inconsistent between sittings and depended somewhat on the shape of the listener's head.

The Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO are slightly better critical listening headphones than the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO, thanks to their open-back design. beyerdynamic have gone to great lengths to make sure the DT770’s are comfortable to wear for long periods of time. I haven't tried the 250 Ohm model, I don't know but I tried it on the 80 ohm model and I realized that I don't need an amplifier. While we haven't tested these variants, users who primarily listen to audio through a smartphone or laptop might find their music sounds better (and louder) with the 32-ohm version. The Beyerdynamic DT 700 PRO X takes clear inspiration from the DT 770 PRO with its large ear pads, thick headband, and Beyerdynamic branding along each ear cup.

These benchmark-setting studio headphones, available in three different models, boast extremely detailed resolution and very transparent sound. Also, while the Astro are wireless, the latency is negligible, although not nonexistent like the wired Beyerdynamic. Finance is only available to permanent UK residents aged 18+, subject to status, terms and conditions apply. The biggest difference is in their sound profiles - the Beyerdynamic sound quite bright, even piercing to some, while the Astro sound less sharp but are also a bit dark. The Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro is a headphone that's been around for a very long time, and it's likely one that needs no introduction.

It provides a good impulse response and outstandingly detailed sound, but to do this it should ideally be paired with a headphone amplifier and is therefore an ideal candidate for studio use.
