Description

As America's leader in industrial workholding equipment and striking tools for more than 80 years, Wilton Tools has a reputation for quality, durability and reliability that is unmatched by any other brand. I think a lot depends on the person swinging the hammer as well as how many times you would be swinging it. If you are a stronger person, someone who does manual labor a lot, and you find that you are breaking stone/concrete or driving post in to permafrost ground, in an area where accuracy is not important, then you might want to increase the weight to get done quicker. I have looked at lots of sledges, I am pretty set in my decision on the Wilton line, they seem to be built the way I would build a hammer. I used every thing from the one handed sledge hammer, '4 pounder', to the heavier 20 lb sledge hammer.

The BASH does seem to be a nice sledge for sure, I think they are made in South Africa, but I have not been able to confirm this yet.

I use(d) a 20 lb to break asphalt for patching work, and found a 20 lb in conjunction with a mattock worked great. I also think the wise ones saying that accuracy goes down based on the weight increase is probably true, even for big brutes. In a professional environment you shouldn't be using a sledge hammer unless you're breaking rocks of course. Your hands will thank you if you ever miss a post with the head and instead hit the handle on the post.

Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. I am looking to replace a couple of China no name sledge hammers that I sent off to the auction the other day. It features an unbreakable steel-core handle technology to prevent breaking during overstrikes, making it ideal for demolition applications.I preferred the square design over the tapered heads because if you were banging 2x4 stakes in the ground you could use the square head sideways and it wouldn't split the wood so easily as it hit the whole flat surface of the stake. If I had to use a tapered head because of restrictions I could do ok but I developed a feel for the square heads and could maintain accuracy better with them.

This subreddit is temporarily private as part of a joint protest to Reddit's recent API changes, which breaks third-party apps and moderation tools, effectively forcing users to use the official Reddit app. You want something massive enough that its weight dropping does most of the work, light enough that you can lift it as many times as necessary without exhausting yourself. Sledge hammers are suitable for heavy pounding tasks, including breaking through masonry or drywall, fracturing concrete or stone and dislodging trapped objects. Strouty I think 20 is too much, in fact 12 is probably as heavy as I would go nobody swings a really heavy sledge anymore. I would definitely not recommend it for anyone who is not either above average strength or using an assist. If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag. At the checkout you are able to see your text for each item please check they are correct and make any amendments necessary before completing your purchase. The powerful force you can generate is also suitable for demolishing brick and studwork walls as well as driving home stakes. If you do not require any personalised engraving please use the no text box for each item at the checkout. I'm pretty sure I would tire of swinging a 20lbs in around 10 or fewer swings, and I work in a fairly physical job.
