The video has an undisturbed and visibly grainy texture that occasionally takes on more emphasis but, I never found it bothersome. Other than a hand full of shots where innate softening creeps in this video rendering looks solid. A movie that no doubt inspired many fans to go into the study of archaeology and antiquities or pursue an adventurous career that requires a .45 caliber Smith and Wesson and bullwhip, Raiders of the Lost Ark (now titled Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark) was a box office smash and 5x Oscar-winner. The film projected Harrison Ford into stardom (after being hailed for his supporting role in two Star Wars films) and continued the rise of Steven Spielberg as one of the eminent Hollywood producers and directors. around. Needless to say he lives a fast-paced life, risking life and limb in the name of the next find and adding to the museum's extensive Raiders’ was restored from the original negatives (overseen by Steven Spielberg) and remastered with a new 4k digital intermediate for Ultra HD Blu-ray. The movie is presented in 2160p (4k) with Dolby Vision and HDR10 providing an expanded color range. The 4k HDR video bit rate ranged between 50 and 60Mbps with peaks into the low 80s.

Paramount has released Director Steven Spielberg's seminal 1981 Adventure film 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' to the UHD format. New specifications Do yourself a favor and make sure your TV is set to movie mode instead of Dynamic or Sports, otherwise, the colors may be too exaggerated. It would seem most directors would like their films shown in as realistic colors as possible. This is the same 4K UHD encode (actually same disc) as the Best Buy steelbooks and the 4 film collection, so if you have either of those, you know what to expect. The new masters and encodes used for this disc is utterly superb. The 35mm productions are wonderfully grainy, tons of textural details, and a very even grain structure. Details are incredibly clear and crips, ranging from the dusty Arab enviornments, to the ruddy faces and blue/white snowy hilltops where we meet Marianne. Within a matter of minutes, we learn a great deal about Harrison Ford's most celebrated character and of the plot's major conflict involving the thieving Belloq (Paul Freeman). As he navigates through an ancient temple of booby traps, the fedora-wearing, bullwhip-snapping Indiana Jones shows that he is as intelligent, cunning and resourceful as he is fallible and culpable, which only makes him all the more endearing. And by the end of the first act, we also learn the filmmakers are aiming for a tonally darker tale than their previous efforts as they introduce Hitler's interest in mysticism and the occult while the Nazis search for the Ark of the Covenant. Yet, Spielberg amazingly keeps things optimistically carefree and riveting as he pays homage to the pulp B-movies of his youth, not only for the sake of nostalgia for that bygone era but also to reintroduce the joy of cinema with a kind of child-like awe." precision. Granted, the combined elements of music and action here never quite feel so full bodied and perfectly blended as they might should be. In
