I am also a watercolor artist, so I really fascinated by color and the way different colors interact with each other. And I enjoy the challenge and fun of weaving krokbragd, so the design possibilities of this book look intriguing! The supplemental wefts add to the thickness of the fabric so I designed all the projects in the book for home goods; coasters, mug-rugs, placemats, pillow and table runners. I had a wonderful instant realization that pickup sticks are the key to creating intricate patterns in a fraction of the time it takes to knit them.

To put it plainly, I took some floor loom lessons including overshot, but I have yet to throw on my rigid heddle loom. I love the challenge of trying something new, just as much as I love having beautiful things around our home. Oh my the colors, texture and patterns- I need help in all of these areas and this looks like the book that will help me so much! A friend is going to sell me her rigid heddle loom and I am excited to begin to learn this art form! What I can say is great it is to have a teacher who constantly pushes the possibilities of my creativity on my rigid heddle loom.When I want to step outside my comfort zone, I like to take a skein of a long color repeat yarn like Noro Kureyon and match up all the solid colors I have in my stash to the colors in the yarn. I purchased a RH loom during our NZ lockdown and I’m constantly amazed at what can be achieved on such a little loom. I have 2 RHLs that have not seen a weave in years as like Myra, I have been focusing on learning other aspects of fiber arts. Willing to take a “leap of faith” since I feel like a total beginner – but so excited at the prospect of exploring a whole new way of weaving and putting colors together.

Myra is a talented fiber artist who has delved into all kinds of fiber arts, and weaving is just her newest passion. I think this latest book of Myra’s sounds the perfect kickstart to turn ‘knitter me’ into ‘weaver me’.Wow, Like Myra, as a new RHL weaver I am hoovering up new ideas from all over and love the idea of complex patterns with only one heddle and a pick up stick – there must be a lot that happens behind the scenes to create those complicated patterns. Some members of knitting groups I am in have taken up weaving, and I was impressed by their beginner efforts on RH looms.
