When should you buy a bottle of the Aberlour? This is a bottle for those who enjoy their single malt whisky and want something high quality at a fair price. It's a good bottle to experiment with Speyside whiskies if you have not had much experience and the light flavours mean it is a great whisky for warm evenings and summer days. Aberlour is a premium entry-level whisky. That basically means it is a perfect whisky for those to try the best that Speyside has to offer while still delivering the taste and flavours of a top quality single malt.

In 1975 Pernod Ricard acquired Campbell Distilleries, and joined with Chivas Brothers in 2001 and eventually opened a visitor centre. The whisky comes in a variety of ages 10, 12, 15, 16, 18 year old and rare 30-year-old 1970 vintage malt, as well as a cask strength releases. Whisky For Everyone is a blog for all lovers of whisky - beginner, keen enthusiast or connoisseur. Whisky is one of the most popular spirit drinks in the world and its sales and number of drinkers are increasing each year. This blog includes regularly updated tasting notes of all manner of whisky from the popular, inexpensive ones to the limited edition, rare bottlings. The finish is of decent length. The sweetness and richness stretch things out as the individual elements begin to fade - first the honey/toffee, then the green apples, then the dried fruit notes and finally the cereal and baking spice characteristics. It was bought by Robert Thorne & Sons who later sold it to W. H. Holt & Sons in 1921, a brewery near Manchester. It changed hands again in 1945 to S. Campbell & Sons Ltd.

Hints of nice flavours but really watered down or diluted. Such a shame as something of 14 years should be a strong flavoured dram I have not enjoyed a sweet whisky like this in a long time. Aberlour's use of two barrels to age the single malt - Oloroso Sherry casks and first fill American Oak casks - has lead to a unique but drinkable option. Part of that ocore range is their 14 Year Old. This is one of the youngest malts that the distillery makes and is a really sumptuous offering. It has been matured in both Oloroso Sherry casks and first fill American Oak casks, giving it a wood forward flavour profile. (“Whiskybase”, “we” or “us”, company details below) offers a whisky enthusiasts online platform that provides its members access to the most comprehensive, transparent and trusted resource of whisky bottles and allows and stimulates its members to contribute information about whisky bottles to the platform (“Service”).I’ve no idea for how long it matured in sherry casks, but judging by the aroma and the flavours, it was a considerable amount. I don’t think anyone tasting this blind, would guess this to be anything else than a big time sherry bomb. Aberlour 14 Years Old Double Cask (58,2%, OB for LMdW, 150 bts.)

Once a novelty when The Balvenie started finishing whisky, this is now a very common (almost traditional) procedure that doesn’t really stand out from the crowd. That said, Aberlour has a long history of double maturation so they know what they’re doing. The colour is golden amber and the nose has a lovely sweetness and richness to it. Aromas of brown sugar, caramel and heather honey mingle with some dried fruit (think of raisin, sultana and candied orange peel especially) initially. Then a hint of ripe brambles comes through along with a good pinch of baking spice (imagine cinnamon and all-spice in particular) and a distinct oat-like quality. The Service has been prepared by us solely for information purposes to Members and the Service is based on information we consider reliable and we obtain the contents of the Service from a number of different third party sources (including Contributions), but we do not endorse, support, represent, warrant or guarantee the completeness, truthfulness, accuracy, or reliability of the Services and any information therein. As a curious beginner or a seasoned whisky drinker, Aberlour has managed to create a fairly young whisky that is mature enough to do both. Get yourself a bottle this summer. There is definitely nothing wrong with Aberlour 14 years Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky. I've been a whisky drinker for several years now but my tastes are pointed towards options from Islay.
