Description

This book, like the others before, is perfect for the middle grade audience it is intended for, but any adult reader won’t be the least bit bored if they happen to take a peek between the covers, too. By submitting a review you grant us the right to display and use it in any way; please read our General Legal Notices for full details. The tone of the book is fantastic and it reads smoothly, peppers with hilarious illustrations that clarify key moments within the tale. We began it last week and it has proven an instant hit; they all look forward to story time at the end of the day now and check it will be happening first thing in the morning.

The book itself is filled with several opportunities to apply cross curricular learning, especially in regard to Loki’s relationships with other characters. A quirky fantasy adventure in which a human boy and a Greek goddess accidentally release an immortal supervillain who is determined to take over the world - and maybe even the universe. packed with jokes and funny illustrations, this second book about Loki’s adventures is just as funny as the first. Despite his contemptuous attitude towards mortal beings, readers will be rooting for him to make the right choices, as he learns about guilt, loyalty and friendship. This selection of books shows what Viking life was like, with all the action and humour you might expect. The Loki series is a real favourite of mine and one I am constantly recommended to children and families as they are accessible to even the most reluctant of readers. Loki is a character that we just can’t get enough of and in this quirky interpretation, he’s a huge bundle of fun. Told through magical diary entries that reveal only the truth, it's the Norse gods as you've never seen them: hilarious, immature--and prepubescent.

Bursting with illustrations, doodles and comic strips, this is an equally funny sequel to the hilarious Loki: A Bad God’s Guide to Being Good. When Danny accidentally summons a feisty green fairy, he does everything he can to send her back to Fairyland before she causes too much havoc. After a series of 1-star reviews from his teachers, Loki is jealous of the glowing adoration bestowed upon Thor and swears vengeance. Having read the story myself, I had a good feeling that my Year 4 class (avid lovers of the classic 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid') would greatly enjoy this particular book. Everyone, like it or not, has a bit of Loki and Thor in them - and this book highlights that perfectly. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. I've overheard my kids telling their friends about it, saying that if they like books by Rick Riordan or Cressida Cowell then they'll also enjoy this one.

So when Thor has a birthday party and his favourite hammer, Mjolnir, goes missing, everyone suspects Loki. This book was also really exciting as you got to play detective and solve the mystery of Thor’s missing hammer. This time the focus is more on his relationship with his best friend Valerie, and her new friend Georgina.
