Description

If the active player moves his Hero pawn to a portal that is already occupied by another player's Hero pawn, the other player moves his Hero pawn to his starting portal and immediately receives a divine blessing, as compensation. The player whose turn it is to play is known as the "active player". Each turn consists of four consecutive steps: I. All Players Receive Divine Blessings

The more I played Dice Forge, the more I realized that this light strategy game keeps players really engaged. I love how easy the game is to teach new players because there are only a handful of actions. You’ll spend 5 minutes teaching and answering questions then you’re ready. Not to mention the fact that everyone rolls on every turn so there is no downtime. Those Dice Forge Components. Wow! The youngest player becomes the first player and takes the First Player token (which he will keep until the end of the game).

Dice Forge is an innovate game with customisable dice faces. All players begin the game with the same faces on their dice and use them to gather gold, victory points, sun shards or moon shards. Throughout the game the players can use these resources to craft their own dice and customise them to their own specific requirements. The forging of the dice is a satisfying experience and offers a nice twist to the dice rolling resource gathering genre. Components Subsequent players will take one less gold on their first turn. This gives the first player a headstart because other players will still have opportunities to earn more gold. Dice Forge is a board game with interchangeable dice that allow players, or heroes, to earn resources and collect points to obtain the most Glory points before the end of the game.

I don’t think designer Régis Bonnessée had any other choice, though, and I’m certainly not going to fault someone for choosing strategy over excitement. But I think there’s a disconnect between how special acquiring cool new die faces feels and how un-special it feels to roll them. There are a couple exceptions to this, usually supplied through the card system, that will do something big like triple the result of your other die, but most of the time you’re hoping for a relatively marginal improvement over your previous turn’s roll. The crux of the game is rolling a pair of customisable dice to gather resources and victory points, which can be traded for new dice faces and ability cards, allowing you to earn slightly more resources and points, and so on. You begin with a light die with five single faces and one sun shard side. Your dark die has only one moon shard, a 2-point face, and all other single-faced sides. Two-Player Game

Place these cards out around the islands, and there can only be as many cards as there are players. The youngest player will go first by taking the blue starting token and three gold pieces. Dice Forge is a creative board game that requires the use of dice and cards to gather resources. Players, serving as heroes, make offerings to gods, perform heroic feats, and of course forge dice in a challenge to be the gods’ chosen one with the most Glory Points earned. How Many People Can Play Dice Forge? I agree with review completely. I’ve played a few times but wont be buying. First time it’s captivating the dice, score boards, and play area. 2nd time use the other cards oky still good. 3rd time asking ok what else do you have to offer and being told that’s actually all there is. Dont buy base game but barrow. Now with expansions that exist maybe its s totally different story BUT if a base game cant stand on it’s own to me it’s a fail unless they do a bundle deal for base + expansion. Yes it needs as way more of each card number and type and even alternate faces per cost to keep replay value. That’s not to say the game is long, as it finishes in around 45 minutes, but it feels like it should be shorter. In fact, this is one of the few games where I think a digital implementation would greatly improve it, as you’d be able to get a game done in about 5 minutes. Note: A hero cannot perform a heroic feat if the corresponding card pile is empty. Ousting Another Hero:

Dice Forge is a board game from Libellud that challenges you to harness your powers and challenge up to three other players in a battle for dominance. During the game, your dice provide the resources you need, but throughout the game, you’ll change your dice, snapping new faces on and improving your chances of claiming victory. When the gods call an end to your contest, the player with the most glory wins the game. To bring you up to speed, Dice Forge is a game in which intrepid Greek heroes (you) engage in tournaments to win the favour of the gods and a place in the Pantheon. To do this, you roll two customisable dice, each gaining you the resources of gold, sun stone, moon stone and victory points (these are the things that get you the win) that you record on your character board with little coloured cubes. Régis Bonnessée ( Seasons, Himalaya, Lords of Xidit) is not the first designer to introduce the ability to alter dice. However, Dice Forge succeeds in utilizing this enjoyable mechanism as the main dish amid a healthy buffet of strategic choices in a game that never quite feels as if it’s merely a game of chance. Honestly, every time I see the price of this game and think of the quality, I’m blown away that this game is 30-something dollars. The game comes with one of the best inserts that I have seen in games. Everything has its place and it all fits neatly in to the box. The box itself becomes part of the game with the Temple Board (which holds all the dice faces) sitting on the base of the box (called the Foundations). Ancient shards are 'wild' shards - they can be either sun or moon shards! You can store up to 6 of them, and it is optional to use them when performing a Heroic feat. In 2017, Libellud (creators of beautifully designed games with a certain Gallic charm) released Dice Forge. Designed by Regis Bonnassee, I kind of got a little besotted with it. (Though, to be honest, I get a little besotted with any game I demo – I am a serial mono-gamer.) Not only that, but it also came in the most beautifully designed, ergonomically terrific box where everything had its place and there was a place for everything. It all fit together so beautifully that my slightly obsessive personality purred with delight and said: “This; all of this; now.” So, I got, I played, and I came to the decision that many players of Dice Forge came, that it was nice, beautiful even, but needed… a bit more. The active player chooses a heroic feat that he wants to perform and spends the resources indicated next to the Heroic Feat card. Then he moves* his pawn to the portal of the island containing the heroic feat. If necessary, he ousts the hero currently occupying the portal.
