WOW DO I LOVE NOAH A LOT??? like he is such and aspiring charcater and I loved that Tycho mentions when he wants to feel relax he goes to noah's infirmary. the way tycho and jax's romance paralleled Jake and noah's 🤩😭 YESSS for providing me with an ARC of Forging Silver Into Stars by Brigid Kemmerer releasing on 06/07/2022

Like Tycho, Jax’s life has been full of misfortune. His mother died in childbirth and he lost one of his legs in an accident at the age of thirteen. As a result, Jax’s father physically and verbally abuses him. He also leaves Jax to keep their forge in business while he wastes away at one of the local taverns. His best friend Callyn helps him survive most days and with Tycho’s encouragement, he finds the confidence to become a skilled archer despite his father’s belief that he is worthless without both of his legs. I really appreciate the inclusion of Jax’s viewpoint because it allows for readers with dis/abilities to see themselves represented in literature. lia mara deserves better too, i mean, losing an unborn child, then being kidnapped, having to fear for her little daughter, who also gets dragged into all of this, and then having to endure all the talk about her beloved husband is a bit much... :( still, she never looses her nerves and is always nice 🥺💞 A dangerous anti-magical faction is rising, and when Tycho discovers a plot to assassinate Grey and Queen Lia Mara, ruler of Syhl Shallow, he must fight for everything he believes in. Nothing here is as it seems, and after a devastating betrayal, it becomes clear that the danger is only just beginning ... About This Edition ISBN: I couldn’t get this creative, suspenseful take on Beauty and the Beast outof my head’ Sara Holland, New York Times bestselling author of Everless Everything you’d want in a retelling of a classic fairy tale: a finely drawnfantasy world, a heroine rarely seen in fiction and a tortured hero with asecret. I have only one complaint: I wish the sequel were already available!’ Jodi Picoult, Sunday Times bestselling author of My Sister’s KeeperBook Genre: Fantasy, Fantasy Romance, Fiction, High Fantasy, LGBT, Magic, Romance, Science Fiction Fantasy, Young Adult, Young Adult Fantasy A lot of the book only happens because person A was in the same place as person B at exactly the right time or because someone miscommunicated something in a way that was easily misconstrued and could have been easily avoided, or whatever else the case was. Not even mentioning the use of deus ex machina at the end. We have LGBTQ characters and we also have two sets of love interests unfolding in here (not a love triangle dont worry). You don't necessarily need to read the cursebreaker trilogy before this, but I would highly recommend it!! I loved the trilogy (seriously its so good, give it a shot) and seeing them here again made me fall in love with them even more.

I know that there are only three points here and I'm not super enthusiastic about any of them, but before I get into the negatives I want it to be clear that I really did enjoy this book. Her writing was as captivating as always and I had a great time on an entertainment level. Kemmerer is looking forward to introducing fans to Defend the Dawn, her 15th novel, for which Bloomsbury has announced a 150,000-copy first printing. “The second book in a series always presents a challenge, because you want to give readers a similar reading experience as they had with the first book, but also want to find creative ways to add the unexpected,” she said. “ Defy the Night had a lot of surprise twists, and with Defend the Dawn, I wanted to give it the same twistiness—and make it even twistier! And I think I pulled it off.”At one point, I was reminded of the Bridge Kingdom and the indoctrination regarding the big bad enemy (here: magesmith Grey) and was really fearful our main characters would take as long to accept reality. I’m glad to say this went a totally different way – admittedly with one character being manipulated but it was done believably and briefly and without excessive inner monologues. Watch how it’s done, Miss Jensen. In this context we meet best friends Jax and Callyn, who know first-hand how magic can lead to devastation, for magic killed Callyn’s parents, magic did nothing to help Jax in the wake of a debilitating accident, and magic cannot rescue them from the tax collector’s threats. Alongside their immediate problems, magic is rising in the wider world, with a magesmith married to their queen, and a stranger inviting them to help an anti-magic, anti-establishment plot in return for much-needed silver. Enter Tycho - instructed to root out the conspirator, handsome Tycho turns Jax’s head and unleashes torrent of conflict. I get it... I get what she was doing and I get how this provides a actual basis for the rest of the series, but I'm not a fan of it at all. I feel like this ties in with my original point being that everything was too oddly convenient.

I am so in love with the direction that Brigid takes in this book. And there’s this scene (which leads to a handful of other scenes) that she didn’t plan for, and it’s 100% one of my favorite moments in the whole book.😍🤩😎

About Brigid Kemmerer

Forging Silver Into Stars takes place in the Cursebreakers world after the events of book three, A Vow So Bold and Deadly. As a result, it’s really painful to see how events are twisted and selective, how people’s fear and ignorance are used to create another narrative (and one that hits too close to home these days), blinding people to what’s true and right and using them in the process. Sure, magic has brought a lot of suffering and death, but Rhen and Grey are good men at heart and they do work for their peoples’ best interest.
