Description

Jane is a single-mother to her son, trying to balance the business and family life while for yearning for her son to have his father in his life and playing referee between her constantly feuding sisters. She is both the middle-child and the mediator in the family and also in the business. One of the most rigorous articulations of the new mood of acceptance...a persuasive demolition of many of our cultural stories about how we ought to live' Oliver Burkeman, Guardian A favor del libro tengo que decir que no se tomó a sí mismo muy en serio y eso es lo que me gustó, era consciente de sus errores y de sus límites. Efectivamente, este libro podría haber durado 20 páginas si ambos hubiesen conversado. i loved the concept that this book was centered around. usually fantasy novels of this sort show the process of the main character/Chosen One™ and their lovable allies going on adventures that ultimately culminate in defeating the antagonist and living 'happily ever after'. the end, and the story is over. Arek hadn’t thought much about what would happen after he completed the prophecy that said he was destined to save the Kingdom of Ere from its evil ruler. So now that he’s finally managed to (somewhat clumsily) behead the evil king (turns out magical swords yanked from bogs don’t come pre-sharpened), he and his rag-tag group of quest companions are at a bit of a loss for what to do next.

It is a source of immense frustration to many social scientists that people rarely do what those scientists think they should. They have come up with lots of theories as to why people do things they ‘shouldn’t’. The most famous is Karl Marx’s notion of ‘False consciousness‘, which held that “members of the proletariat unwittingly misperceive their real position in society and systematically misunderstand their genuine interests within the social relations of production under capitalism.” In other words, workers would all be Marxists if only they weren’t duped by the bourgeoisie. Thankfully they had Marx to tell them what they really needed. That change flipped the typical dynamic on its head, which I greatly enjoyed, as I'm not sure I've ever seen that approach in a romance before, so that fresh take was kind of cool. Even more critics will say romance isn’t realistic, that the stories don’t reflect reality. For one, there actually are people out there who have found their One True Love in a way they would describe as a “sweeping romance” or “fairytale love story.” For two, are you actually telling me that Fiction has to accurately reflect reality? Is that really an argument you want to make? Please, allow me to direct your attention to the entire speculative fiction genre umbrella, thrillers, action/adventures, medical fiction, westerns, and basically every fiction book that has ever been published and most of the memoirs. We don’t read books to read exactly the same things that happen in our real lives. Or, at least, I don’t. Nor anyone I personally know. But you do you, I guess?

CHILDREN'S BOOK BOX (aged 9-12)

Pamper product – there will be a different product every month to give you a indulgent self treat e.g. bath bomb, face mask etc The book began at the very end of what we're told was an exciting and arduous campaign to fulfill a prophecy, with the Vile One's head freshly separated from his body. Mari, the oldest sister is doing her best to be a good example for her sisters after she's made some mistakes in the past. Mari has put her personal life on hold to pour everything into the business, but then she meets her client's brother and starts having feelings she hasn't felt in quite some time.. Some of the major questions Dolan discusses are thing such as: should you have children? Is monogamy optimal for happiness? Does wealth make us happier? What about education? And health? Much like Lukens' earlier cryptid series, " The Rules", this new book was fun and quirky, and let's face it, a little weird, too. In other words, it was right up my alley. 😁

This book definitely reminded me how hard family relationships can sometimes be, but in a light way rather than a book that was overly deep and heavy. While this book had a number of poignant moments and perspectives, it wasn’t so heavy that I felt exhausted when I was done. Rather I felt like it gently reminded me of things that were important in families with some humor and romance to break things up. I very much enjoyed reading this one as it brought out a lot to think about without being overly heavy. i did, however, find it really funny how some modern sayings and idioms were basically rewritten so they'd make sense in the context of the world this book is set in. just off the top of my head i remember reading a line where someone is told to be quiet or something and they "button" their mouth closed instead of "zipping" it. Over the years I have found that the best way to keep my writing "fresh" is to change how I write (since I don't want to change what I write). The Bridgerton 2nd Epilogues provided the perfect outlet for this. The shorter format was a breath of fresh air, and I even wrote one in the first person. Unsurprisingly this part revelas that in fact we are more driven by context, environment and genes than we would like to accept. There isn't much free will. I do not agree with this.
