Sigma have paid close attention to this aspect of lens use, employing a 9-segment diaphragm with rounded blades in all three lenses for more pleasing bokeh. No lens case is included in the box, but finding a case for a common lens form factor is not challenging. Samples taken from the outer extreme of the image circle, full-frame corners, can be counted on to show a lens's weakest performance. I’ve owned my 30mm F1.4(same material) for four years (almost five!) and have never had any durability issues.

When used on a camera that utilizes a lens's entire image circle, a lens can be expected to create peripheral shading at the widest aperture settings.

The Sigma 16mm, 30mm and 56mm F1.4 DC DN C are three new, affordable compact standard prime lenses for Canon's APS-C sensor mirrorless camera range. I don’t consider this lens a top choice for astro, but I made a few images with it that night that I like a lot, so won’t hesitate to use it in that fashion in the future. A Good Video Option

Another point to remember here is that the lens doesn’t have inbuilt stabilisation. Although that’s not so much an issue with some manufacturers, such as the several of the Fujifilm models mentioned here, none of the Nikon Z DX cameras include IBIS. Wide aperture lenses tend to have an advantage in this regard, and this lens is capable of producing attractive stars, as illustrated below. Wide-angle, ultra-wide aperture lenses tend to show strong peripheral shading wide open, and this lens's about 2 stops of f/1.4 shading is noticeable — but not relatively strong. Otherwise, using the lens with a Nikon camera is pretty much identical in experience to using it with one of the other mounts.
