I have always enjoyed reading Anthony Horowitz books; therefore, I decided to read The Falcon’s Malteser, which is part of the Diamond Brothers series. But here I am, writing a book in which I have no idea what's going on, following in the footsteps of a character who refuses to tell me anything. I recommend this book for readers who enjoyed the magnificent Alex Rider Series and also people who enjoy reading crime, mystery and adventure genre books. It turns out that the pseudonym Fat Man is rather inappropriate – when the man himself is finally revealed, he is one of the thinnest men Nick has ever seen, with the rings on his fingers slipping off almost constantly. Nick goes back to the hotel, where Naples was staying, to investigate, while Snape keeps Herbert for interrogation.

I was left holding a diamond the size of a peanut" The theme of this book is that you should watch who you are with.In December 2015, when responding to a fan query on Twitter regarding the plot of the book, Horowitz revealed that the story would be set during the Australian summer, and that it may involve the characters celebrating Christmas in July. The humor in here is well balanced with the seriousness of the situation that, mostly Tim, find themselves in. He tries to explain the situation, whilst Herbert tries (and miserably fails) to put on a hardman act. Snape and the police suspect that the Falcon had stashes of uncut diamonds in many cities around the world, including London, which was the base of his operations.

Not only is he so powerful that when he was given a parking fine, the police found the body of the traffic warden embedded in concrete, but he is diabolical enough to (spoilers, by the way), find Nick Diamond, trap him in a bathtub filled with quick-dry cement, and throw him into a river just to get him out of his way. When Nick offers to tell Snape everything the Diamonds know in exchange for what the police know, Snape begins to tell his story.

This was a brilliant success on a car journey to France with 8 year old son, and daughters 20 and 18. Nick realises it must be valuable and decides to do something useful with his Christmas holiday, like going skiing, though Tim breaks his leg before they get on the plane and the money is wasted on fixing the leg. The Falcon's Malteser is far from high literature as it comprises of many shallow characters, a thirteen-year old who speaks like Humphrey Bogart and a mystery story that centres around a box of chocolates. If you go into the novel expecting something special you will be greatly disappointed, however if you're looking for something quick and entertaining to read on a Sunday afternoon I would highly recommend it.

Although they may not get the references to Sam Spade and other 30s crime fiction, most of the humor in the novel can be found in clever word-play and outlandish situations and so definitely stands the test of time. In The Diamond Brothers in… The French Confection (2002), the Diamond Brothers win a trip to Paris thanks to a French strawberry yoghurt, but accidentally get caught up in a drug smuggling ring and end up being forced to team up with the Sûreté to take them down. Almost pleasant conversation elapses into threats when Nick tells the Fat Man that they do not have the box.In The Diamond Brothers in… South By South East (1991), Nick and Tim Diamond are once again forced into a mystery, this time going to Amsterdam to discover the identity of the mysterious assassin Charon. The next day, Johnny Naples is found dead, Tim is somehow framed for the crime, his much smarter and younger brother Nick gets the box of Maltesers, and every crook in town is out to get them. The next day – after going to the cinema to see 101 Dalmatians – they find their flat turned over by someone during the day.

Tim is the world’s worst private investigator, so can the help of his clever younger brother Nick be enough to crack their toughest case yet? When they go to Room 39 at Hotel Splendide however, they arrive at exactly the time that he is shot.Meet the Diamond Brothers, the world's most defective detectives, by the author of the number one bestselling Alex Rider series.
