Don’t get me wrong - it was super cute and sweet… but I didn’t realize going into this book that it would be a duel timeline (which I’m never a fan of ) with multiple missed chances and years of both of them secretly pining after each other… only to be followed up by fake dating which finally gives them the opportunity to act how they both always wanted to. I absolutely ADORED this book. Perfection from start to finish. I truly felt like I was the one experiencing all the fun things about the start of a new relationship, the small touches, the flirty smiles, the butterflies. I felt it all. All those little moments were written so perfectly I swear I was blushing as if it were happening to me. Meyer and his daughter Hazel have been everything to her since they came into her life three years ago. So, all joking aside, the stakes really are high when it’s not only her career, but both of those relationships on the line. He was lonely in life until he met Farley, and he had no idea that she was lonely waiting for a love like him. Essentially, social-emotional learning starts with self-awareness and the ability to name your own emotions when you’re feeling them.

It`s my humble request to everyone to express themselves without thinking who would judge you or what would someone think of you. It's OK to express. It's OK to express sadness as we express happiness. Towards 50-60% it started reading like a summary, like all of the important stuff that this slow burn has been building towards was just glossed over. Only to rush to a third act break up and then you blink and it's the epilogue. I'm super critical of contemporary romances, so when I say I LOVE this book, you better believe I mean it! I started reading at 7 pm on a Saturday night and finished at midnight. But instead of going to bed like a normal person, my brain was so full of serotonin that I couldn't help but stayed awake and replay the story in my head for hours! The character development was topnotch and I immediately felt connected to not only Farley and Meyer, but also the incredibly charming supporting characters like Meyer’s hearing impaired daughter Hazel. Her friendship with Farley almost steals the show. I really enjoyed the way Dewitt develops their relationship independent of Farley and Meyer’s. And I’m starting to write SEL picture books because I want to see books on emotions that show both/and –and that show kids how to live with uncomfortable emotions, not just try to get rid of them which is a set up for shame. As children become better able to identify emotions, they’ll improve their relationship skills as well. So how can you use the SEL children’s books about feelings on this list? Includes a “Note to Parents” to provide more information about emotional awareness, and suggests ways to seamlessly incorporate mindfulness practices into your child and family’s daily routines.

Seriously tho how that meet cute comes full circle and the way TD brings it all together under the same ☂️ (ella ella – sorry my brain…I just 🙈 sometimes) is such lovely storytelling. Learning to understand and care about the feelings of others is one of the most important steps in a child’s development―and it’s never too early to help little ones build those skills. This beautifully illustrated storybook teaches young kids how to recognize and practice empathy through simple real-life scenarios that are easy for them to understand. It’s written with clear language for adults to read aloud and features discussion questions and activities that encourage kids to talk about what they learned and use it in their lives. CASEL identified five specific social emotional learning competencies for children, which are the following The romance is beautiful with so much tension! I'm not a huge fan of friends to lovers, but this one really was perfect. I love that they were only friends for a few years and decided (on their own) to keep things professional. Because during that time, these two were able to develop a deep love and respect for one another.

Alongside the eye-catching cover, my dear @PbB put this on my radar and she never leads me astray - so this will be joining its frendos on my FFS shelf 🤭

FF follows Farley (Fee) an up and coming comedienne, to take the next step in her career a suggestion is made that she might “fake date” her manager Meyer who had his own comedic success at an earlier age but leans more into writing now as he balances working with being a single dad to his deaf daughter Hazel (totes book MVP btw she is legit the best!) & wouldn’t you know it but the MCs have lowkey been pining/in love with each other for a while but are each scared of tipping the precarious relationships they have carved out after years of working together following a chance encounter and honestly wonderful meet cute.Today I Feel Silly: And Other Moods that Make My Day by Jamie Lee Curtis, illustrated by Laura Cornell

This was just so perfect and had all of the tropes I love. Fake dating, single dad, age gap, grump/sunshine, workplace, friends to lovers, and pining!? Seriously, I'm obsessed. Farley and Meyer have been friends for a few years ever since Farley ran into Meyer at his daughter's birthday party. Meyer ended up becoming Farley's manager and they've been friends ever since. Farley has the chance to go on tour with two other amazing female comedians, but they want to drum up interest and excitement in the tour, and what's more exciting than their dating lives? They propose Farley and Meyer fake date, so they agree. Here you’ll find a list of the SEL picture books that will spark further conversations and continue to build their emotional literacy foundation. That being said, some books do not support the most current research and are problematic. Some of the books might be problematic because: This book is dedicated to all the women who’ve ever been told that they’re Too Much. Maybe you’re too loud, too crass, too open, too bawdy. You overshare too often, say too many bad words, you're too weird, or too emotional. Tough Guys Have Feelings Too is a fun way to open up a meaningful conversation with your children about feelings. The author uses characters like ninjas, wrestlers, and superheroes to explain that even people that might seem tough on the outside have feelings. This book will help you teach your kids that it’s ok to share how they are feeling because keeping it inside is not healthy. It also teaches them the important message that even dads have feelings despite what society might make them think.Uses rhyming text, thoughtfully chosen metaphors and sweet illustrations to bring each feeling to life. Helping children learn to identify emotions, the situations that spark these feelings and effective coping skills provides them with a strong emotional foundation, which in turn can lead to increased self confidence and sense of self esteem.
