What the A1 and A2 have done is demonstrated that the pens that have cornered a segment of the market can be produced and made available for a much lower price.I thought the Platinum Curidas clone by Lanbitou (model 3088?), though not by Majohn, was the worst of the copies so far? After alightment there was a smoother experience but the tines sing, ever so slightly. Not a big deal for me though. I did smooth the tipping a bit and the experience was much improved.

So we could say that the Pilot EF is finer with roughly the same conditions. I'll probably buy the Pilot 18K EF nib unit later on so thanks on making up my mind on that front.

I bought my standard gold nib version of capless in 2020 and wrote with it daily for 2 years when I learnt about A1’s existence. There really isn't many differences other than weight and the "body band" that has the Moonman logo instead of the two rounded rings that the Pilot alternative uses. Everything else is very similar if not identical.

For that matter, I don't think either Sailor or Pilot sound particularly classy as brand names; but they have earned brand recognition from hobbyists, and positive association with quality or even middle-class luxury, over the past decades in their respective century-long histories.) So the nib unit is nearly exactly the same as pilots, so much so it is said the two are interchangeable. Neat that it is this way, you can use a good nib from Pilot if you so desire. As far as the ones Moonman/Majohn has done, I thought the most blatant was actually the Moonman F9, if that's what you meant by ‘worst’ (not by product quality or performance, but sheer brazenness). Now, correct me if I'm wrong Vanishing Point owners, but I don't think this is normal.I have been aware of the fact that the nib unit being "tilted" is designed so that when holding the nib is in line with the paper and this is not a defect.
