I've just spent most of the day helping a friend install a new BT YouView box. Everything is working fine except: East Mids = Waltham (Talking Pictures on COM7 = freq.ch 31@ -7dB cf the PSB muxes but outwith a C/D aerial - as Waltham used to use - so may be further attenuated). If the firmware has become corrupted and the copy of the current release of the firmware held on hard disk is also corrupted then it may have to rely on the copy of the base firmware that the box was manufactured with? West Mids = Sutton Coldfield COM7 = freq.ch 33 @ -4dB... but received via an aerial pointing the wrong way. SC is often very good if not better than Waltham in parts of the E.Mids for the main channels at least... so that may explain why it works when set like that even though the aerial is pointing the wrong way?

Best You view box + source? — Digital Spy

Customers of BT’s YouView ( IPTV) and broadband powered TV service have today been introduced to a much smaller version of their set-top-box (DTR-T2100) device (partly because it doesn’t need a fan), which adopts a similar style to the operators Home Hub 4 and Home Hub 5 routers. But still no built-in WiFi connectivity. The supplied remote has been redesigned for this new box too. We like the heft of it: it's the sort of remote you can use day-in day-out and it now has buttons to take you direct to BT services, as well as the more useful YouView button. A small array of buttons on top means you can still control the basic functions if you lose the remote, and the remote itself is also new. We prefer the simpler design of the old remote, which had slightly bigger (but noisy) buttons. If I take their box to my house still set to the East Midlands it fails to get the channels. If I set the box with a West Midlands B1 postcode the box gets Talking Pictures, but of course the regional programming is incorrect. If you’re upgrading from an old BT YouView box, bear in mind that there’s no way to transfer recordings to the new one. The YouView app supports only one box at a time, so you’ll need to head to your iPhone or Android settings and delete the unique number for your old box before firing up the app again and running through the set-up process again. BT YouView+ box: features & designAs there are two Freeview HD tuners inside the box, you can record two separate channels at the same time. Depending on which these are, you may or may not be able to watch a third, different channel while recording two others. You can always watch recorded shows during recording, though. It turns out that Humax have ported their freeview boxes' multiple transmitter issue to their Youview boxes. It doesn't impact everyone within range of more than 1 transmiatter but it does impact some.

If a new machine or plugging into a PC lets you play the recordings then that is a bonus. If not then you are not really in any different a position to currently. These instructions to fix my BT box are an absolute godsend. The tell-tale sign of a beeping HDD was enough to convince me that this was worthwhile pursuing….and sure enough it worked. The only problem I had was trying to get the maintenance screen up once the HDD had been replaced – it took about 3-4 attempts before the box finally responded and after that it was plain sailing from then on in. Box is fully up and running now. So thanks for the instructions and saving another bit of kit from going to set top box heaven – as well as doing my bit for saving the planet. APV used to work albeit very sluggishly compared to Netflix, having seen the Software update link I note that the new version was rolled out from 10 Oct, shortly before my problem started. Could the new software release be the cause of my problem? You may already have received this or your box is due soon to obtain it. Youview roll the updates out in batches, not everyone gets them at same time. But if you are referring to the new features with the BT Pro box, this is not available on your box (as far as I know currently/not sure about future updates being rolled out). This is certainly easy to operate and find your way around and certainly good to be able to catch up anything you have missed and so easy to record.

Freeview Recorder Charger, HKY AC-DC 12V 2.5A Adapter for

Absolutely delighted with this product. as a freeview box its great even for non bt customers. Would recommend this item to anybody. And it follows that as the OS (in effect) of the device is on the mainboard it should be able to format a blank new hard drive without any problems. The problem is that your box doesn't appear to want to boot up properly even without the drive installed. So swapping the drive may not get you any further forward. I would have thought that the box would boot up without the drive but display a message that it can't find the drive rather that sit there continually attempting to detect it. It would be a pretty poor bit of software coding that didn't have a limit on how many attempts it makes to detect a drive before giving up and continue to the main screen. I have a slightly newer Sony Brava TV and can't recall a single issue with handshaking (unlike my HDR-2000T). HDMI handshaking for me is as sold as with my HDR-FOX T2s (1.03.12 and 1.02.20). All youview boxes, including yours, will adapt their screen displays according to which ISP it is connected to. From your description it sounds as though you are still with BT. While you remain with BT, as your ISP, the on screen display will stay the same. To remove BT livery from your box you will need to change your ISP away from BT, but that won't make any difference to your box's updates that you are interested in. The older Humax box had an LCD display on the front which is absent from the latestDTR-T2100. In fact, there's no display at all. That helps keep the size down and when this information is only a button press away, that probably won't be too much of a problem to you.The (non-retail) DTR-T2100 is practically identical to the (retail) DTR-T2110 but comes in a plan brown box and the label on the underside identyfing as the DTR-T2100 'model'. There is no other difference. If I recall correctly even the on-screen system information menu does not differentiate the two. If you’re unfamiliar with YouView, it’s essentially Freeview Plus (pause, rewind and record live TV) with on-demand TV fully integrated into the programme guide. That means you can browse the last seven days’ worth of programming as well as the next seven days. Reasons I opted for this unit was because it had WiFi so no need to connect via cable for the streaming services.

Manhattan T3-R vs Humax DTR-T2100. Which is the Best

With this update, BritBox will be made available and can be found within the Players & Apps section of YouView. I have a Philips 58pus8555 TV so really only want something for occasional recordings, no need for any smart bells & whistles as the TV has it all, it would help if it was fast and user friendly.I find the BT G4 Yoview box that I also use for BT TV services to be a far better box than the older BT Youview T1000. Looking at your photos of inside the box there is a large plate on the underside – is that easy to remove? versions of the Western Digital drives are available along with Toshiba’s AV drives which were sometimes fitted, including to the 1Tb Ultra-HD 4K YouView boxes. Toshiba’s 1Tb drive is model number MQ01ABD100V.
