Description

Between the versions 1.4.3 and 1.4.3.6, there was an NPC named DeerclopsLeg in the files which did not actually appear during the fight. It was invincible [1] and had its own AI [2]. It was removed in the 1.4.4 update.

Unsurprisingly, the Deerclops drops loot when defeated, and some of its unique items can only be obtained when playing on Master mode. Here is a comprehensive list of all of Deerclops’s drops, and the items that are exclusive to Terraria’s Master mode have been noted: If all players are dead or there are none nearby when it spawned naturally, the Deerclops will wander around instead of immediately despawning. This will happen until a player gets close to the boss, at which point the fight will resume as normal. It will despawn after a few minutes have passed while players are not near or upon leaving and re-entering the world. The Deerclops is the first non-event crossover boss, as well as the first pre-Hardmode crossover boss. Now only remains present in the Snow biome for 1 day when no players are present, instead of 3 days. If the player is above the Deerclops for enough time, five shadow hands will be summoned around the player. Avoid lingering directly above the Deerclops, as the shadow hands it summons in this situation are very dangerous. Fixed an issue where Deerclops' health did not scale up with increased player count in Expert/Master multiplayer games.

One of these really good, consumer-grade, Gen 1 products is the Yukon NV 1×24 Goggles. They sit in that sweet spot, balancing cost and technology. It is one of seven bosses with exclusive boss music. The others include Queen Bee, Queen Slime, Plantera, Empress of Light, Duke Fishron, and Moon Lord. If the player is more than 30 tiles away, the Deerclops will turn a dark shade purple, two reddish, semi transparent Deerclops' will begin spinning around it, and it becomes immune to all damage. This will give you the ability to keep a fresh supply of batteries for your night vision and tactical flashlights, and to recharge them from AC outlets, DC outlets, and our solar panels.

All IR illuminators throw off some minor visible red light. This light is barely visible to the naked eye and if you are looking directly at the illuminator, you may see a slight red glow.

Gen-1 night vision technology, while not cutting edge technology, is still valuable. It should enable you to see about 60 yards, in poor ambient light, without using the Pulsed IR illuminator. One may find it useful to bring a Warmth Potion or the Hand Warmer to the battle as the Chilled and Frozen debuffs can easily kill the player if inflicted. If you want to use night vision, you may need to plan ahead and get some rechargeable CR123A batteries with an AC/DC charger for them. Using a script or add-on that scans GameFAQs for box and screen images (such as an emulator front-end), while overloading our search engine After defeating Deerclops, it now only has a 25% chance to spawn again naturally under proper conditions. This was previously 100% chance. The Deerclops will occasionally stand in place and roar, inflicting the Slow debuff on all players for 12 / 24 / 30 seconds. To get right to it, players that want to spawn this new boss in Terraria must first craft a Deer Thing by combining three Flinx Fur, one Lens, and either five Crimtane Ore or five Demonite Ore at an Altar. These material requirements are farily easy to fulfill, allowing fans to summon Deerclops quite early in pre-hardmode. In fact, fans can fight Deerclops before they even slay the Eater of Worlds, though the battle may be a bit difficult at that point in the game.

I found 2 of them and tested them out. Both of these listed use some minor magnification, but with practice I was able to walk around with them. This is especially recommended for Mediumcore players, as they can be left defenseless near Deerclops if they die in the middle of the fight. The Deerclops' purple invulnerable form in Terraria looks similar to its Winter's Feast form in Don't Starve Together.
