Grid based battles are the aim of the game in this Legend of Heroes titles, that and exploring, killing monsters, and collecting every single item that you can lay your hands on. Credit: Sony

Once again, the PSP provides stunning graphics. And despite being interupted from their holidays, Ratchet and Clank set about rescuing a captured girl and dealing with the Technomites with a smile on their faces. Credit: SonyPersona 3 almost topped our list of the Best PSP RPGs for portable fantasy gaming. It has one of the greatest plotlines of any handheld game and makes all of the after school clubs you went to as a kid seem boring beyond belief!

Mega Man might look mighty small in this title, but the Robot Masters still look pretty formidable! You can actually control them in this version, though you’ll have to find out how for yourself! Final Fantasy Tactics: The War Of the Lions is up next, a title that seriously works your braincells into a frenzy. Bizarre right, but so addictive I think it could be the main reason I shave my head at 33… Credit: Sony No shooting, but amazing music. I guess it’s a trade off we can live with! 58. Crush (2007) Credit: Sony/Sega Psygnosis". Box Equals Art. Archived from the original on 15 March 2018 . Retrieved 25 December 2017.The "droopy-nosed" design of the lemmings was inspired from UK children's books The Wombles, created by Elizabeth Beresford. It follows on from the events of Snake Eater, so much so that close quarters combat also makes an appearance. Credit: Sony If you like your history with a mix of blood-thirsty battles and button-mashing fun, then Ghost Of Sparta should be in your PSP Disc Arsenal! The PSP also lets you fight as a male or female protagonist which is a nice touch. Still, it’s down to your skills as a player and not your character’s gender to make those friendships and relationships that will ‘up’ your skills when fight time comes around! 16. In certain levels, lemmings can be cramped in a small space, and it can be difficult to assign individual tasks. While you could end up burrowing in the wrong direction, this is an intentional design of the gameplay rather than a fault of the control system, and this has been the same since the original on the Amiga. The one problem with the interface is that you have to cycle through all of the eight skills to get to the one you want, even if they're not available. This is particularly annoying at the start of the game when you only have access to a couple of skills, but you still have to scroll through the other six. The Atari Lynx version, due to the smaller screen size, has modified versions of all the levels with a reduced height. Its splat height is much lower for the same reason. It also has a maximum of 40 lemmings per level. Turns out the Brits made a deal with the leader of the demon army to get some evil soldiers on their team to give them a leg up in the war (I wouldn’t put it past Downing Street).

The isometric top-down view gives players a great vantage point of all the whole battlefield. The speed and movements of each character play a big part in your success too; it’s a feast for the senses. 47. Legends is essentially a mash-up of the first three Burnout games. It’s very similar to Burnout 3: Takedown, though everything has obviously been scaled down for the PSP.

Trivia

Creating a player is always one of the most fun parts of any game; it gives you a sense of wanting to achieve more and getting invested in your character’s progress. MLB 06 is no different, and reaching the top of your career is incredibly addictive. Lemmings is a puzzle– strategy video game originally developed by DMA Design and published by Psygnosis for the Amiga in 1991 and later ported for numerous other platforms. The game was programmed by Russell Kay, Mike Dailly and David Jones, and was inspired by a simple animation that Dailly created while experimenting with Deluxe Paint. Control Kratos and the Blades of Athena in this combo combat action-adventure game, battling minotaurs, gorgons, harpies and more. I’ve got chills just thinking about it! Credit: Sony
