Auto focus has become a must have feature for me but if you’re shooting something as static as the stars, manual focus will suffice. Golden Light on Barrio Logan. Sony A6400, Sony 18-135mm at 26mm, f/11 (for a sunstar) hand-held at 1/5 at Auto ISO 200, Perfectly Clear. bigger or full-resolution. The touch function works great for selecting AF points, but it doesn't work at all for working in the menus or entering text. The Sony A6400 offers 4K UHD video recording up to 30p, with full pixel readout and no pixel binning.

Both cameras provide high-quality video recording, producing smooth, professional-grade video footage. However, the A6700 edges out the A6400 with its 4K HDR (HLG) video recording capability and 120p slow-motion video at 1080p. Which Would You Choose For The Longest Recording Time: Arguably, it’s these ‘native’ lenses that usually perform the best, since they have been designed specifically for the cameras that share the same brand. The lens distortion due to the wide focal length of this lens was tolerable especially for shooting outdoors. It might not be ideal for portraits but was quite effective for most other subjects. At the maximum native ISO of 32,000, the edges around the pencils were a little blurry and details suffered, but there still wasn't too much chroma noise, which is an improvement over the A6300. We also tested the extended ISO settings, and as you can see, photos were completely unusable at ISO 1,02,400. I chose this as my favorite because of the focal length combined with the fast aperture. Over the past 8 years, I’ve shot with a lot of lenses but have honed in on the 35mm focal length. Sony stands out from every other camera maker because their electronic finders have automatic brightness control that always works to keep the finder at the perfect brightness. It offers quality similar to that of other high-end full-frame lenses in an APS-C design. I was also impressed that despite being so sturdy feeling, it is surprisingly lightweight. Compact (E-mount APS-C format) and lightweight (325 grams (11.5 oz.)), this lens features an optical design optimized for short flange focal distances that makes it small and manageable on its own while also contributing to notable reductions in overall system size, weight, and portability.

When I shoot portraits, I’m always looking to create nice bokeh so I’ll choose a mid range telephoto lens with a low aperture (f2.8 or lower). Many photographers say your first prime lens should be “nifty fifty”, but I think a 35mm is a lot more versatile than 50mm! I set M2 for photos of people: moderate resolution and saturation, and set Auto ISO to a slowest speed of 1/125 to stop motion. If you see a Sony lens that contains an ‘E’ (as opposed to an ‘FE’), this means that it’s been designed for Sony APS-C sensor range of camera bodies – i.e. the Sony alpha a6400, and other a6xxx cameras. My one complaint about this lens is the slower auto focus due to the minimum aperture of f4. If you’re shooting dark, indoor scenes, it might be a little slow, especially if you’re shooting moving subjects.Sony Alpha A6400 comes with the time-lapse feature, slow and fast motion for video shooting. It makes post-production a piece of cake. There is an LCD screen to help you customize for Vlogging, recording, and photography. You get the body only, with accessories such as a battery, shoulder strap, eyepiece cup, USB cable, body cap, and a shoe cap. There aren't many Mirrorless cameras that offer you these features in this price range, and if you are already a Sony user, then you can use your old lenses with a new camera body. Sure, you can pay a lot more for a full-frame system, but here's a secret: the pictures look the same! The only real difference with full-frame is less depth-of-field; otherwise these glorious little APS-C cameras do the same things and take the same pictures but cost only half as much, and even at the same price these APS-C cameras and lenses weigh half of what full-frame cameras and lenses do. Mounted on the a6400, the Sony E 24mm f/1.8 has a nice balance. It is larger than some of the compact lens offerings for the a6400, but the benefit is the fast aperture! Sony produces two main types of lens for its ‘E-mount’ mirrorless camera bodies – ‘FE’ and ‘E’ lenses. This screen is perhaps the A6400’s ‘killer’ feature. It flips up through a full 180 degrees so that you can see yourself while you’re filming yourself presenting to the camera. It’s also touch-sensitive, though it’s relatively small so you’re going to have to be quite precise when setting the focus point. Sony A6400 review: Build and handling

The Sony A6700 and A6400 both deliver superb video capabilities, although there are a few notable differences: The benefit to the APS-C design is that lenses can be smaller than their full frame counterparts making the overall setup much more compact. While both cameras share similar features such as an anti-dust shutter mechanism, wireless and Bluetooth connection, image stabilisation, and support for RAW images. They also boast similar weather sealing and support for UHS-II cards. Should You Upgrade To The Sony A6700?The camera has a native ISO range of 100-32,000, which can be expanded to ISO 1,02,400. Burst shooting tops out at 11fps in ‘Hi+' mode, but without a live view of your subject. If you want the latter, then you need to drop the burst speed down to ‘Hi' mode which still gives you a decent 8fps. Because I shoot both weddings and adventure sports, I like to have a wide range of lenses that cover a full range of focal lengths.

Use the top dial to swap among images while zoomed, and if viewing through the finder, touch the rear LCD to scroll around a zoomed image. Don’t limit yourself to just the APS-C e-mount lenses for your Sony a6400 – FE lenses work great too.The auto focus is fast and effective and with such a wide focal length, I almost never had issues with getting accurate focus. The rear LCD is tiny. It's a short 16:9 shape, so images don't fill the screen unless cropped or zoomed (or if you're shooting video). Then there's the Canon EOS RP, which is a full-frame camera with a flip-out screen and a relatively small, light body at roughly the same price as our A6400 kit. While we haven't tested the EOS RP yet, you couldexpect good image quality thanks to its large sensor. Dog Catching a Frisbee.
