Description

The Asus Chromebook Flip CM3 is a budget Chrome OS 2-in-1 that exceeds the expectations established by its low price. It’s slower than I’d like, but it has great battery life and a solid, comfortable chassis. The keyboard could be larger and the touch screen a little more responsive, but the touchpad and active pen are excellent. ARM Mali-G72 MP3: Integrated graphics card from ARM with 3 cores based on the 2nd generation of the Bifrost architecture. Remember when I asked about which corners were cut? Well, the simplest answer here is: Performance. The Asus Chromebook Flip CM3 uses a MediaTek MT8183 ARM CPU running at 2GHz. While this processor has been optimized for Chrome OS, there’s only one way to characterize it. It’s slow.

The performance of the Chromebook Flip CM3200 is objectively underwhelming. It's one of the worst scoring devices when it comes to our Chromebook benchmarks by a healthy margin, so there is no getting around the fact that the MediaTek processor here is not going to be able to do much more than your basic computing tasks. There’s no better feeling than finding a diamond in the rough, and the Asus Chromebook Flip CM3 might just be that diamond for those looking for a cheap but capable laptop that can also function as a tablet. Impressive performance makes this Chromebook a joy to use, even if the touchpad, distractingly glossy display, and short battery life steal some of its thunder.Everyone knows that Chromebooks are not powerful gaming laptops, but that won’t stop us from running the next benchmark, GFXBench 5.0, which is a cross-platform GPU benchmark that stress-tests both low-level and high-level game routines. The CM3 did do the best, but every machine in this test performed poorly, in both the 1440p Aztec Ruins test and the 1080p Car Chase test. If you’re looking to do some gaming on the go, your best bet is a Windows-based dedicated gaming laptop. The CM3 makes use of a Mediatek processor, instead of the usual Intel or AMD offerings. ARM-based processors from Mediatek and Qualcomm are usually found in low-cost Chromebooks like this one, and typically perform about as well as other bottom-rung chips like the Intel Pentium or AMD Athlon. Most aren't unbearably slow, but there's a considerable power gap between them and midrange chips from AMD and Intel, and an even bigger gap between them and Apple silicon, which is also ARM-based. (Here's how to choose the best laptop processor.) Still, the CM3 is one of the best-performing ARM-powered Chromebooks we've tested, as you'll see below. Customer satisfaction with ASUS notebooks concerns performance, the features, and the good price-performance ratio of ASUS notebooks. However, as with any brand, there are occasional reports of problems such as overheating, driver compatibility, or build quality issues.

At Student Computers We sell top computing gear at cheap prices such as laptops, desktop pcs, chromebooks, system components, monitors, all-in-one computers and many more. We cover brands including Acer, Msi, Razer, Asus, Apple, HP. The Asus Chromebook Flip CM3 feels solid enough to last for years of typical use. The biggest question is how Chrome OS advances — if it requires more CPU power at some point, the Asus Chromebook Flip CM3 won’t be able to keep up. The one-year warranty is fine at this price. Should you buy it? Choose from our wide range of computing accessories that are brilliant for making your experience complete. Choose from mice/keyboard, system components, computing cases, other computing accessories and many more. Yes. As a secondary laptop, the Asus Chromebook Flip CM3 is a tremendous bargain that’s worth the small investment.

Looking for a computer? There are many fantastic choices available, and you can get some incredible discounts on computers for sale. There is undoubtedly a model that is ideal for you, whether you're looking for a desktop, laptop, or smartphone. You're sure to discover the ideal model at the ideal price with so many models and brands to choose from. At just 2.5 pounds, the Asus Chromebook CM3 is a featherweight, weighing a half-pound less than our previous Editors’ Choice winner, the Acer Chromebook Spin 713, and almost a full pound lighter than the HP Chromebook x360 14a. (Granted, the CM3's screen is two inches smaller than what these competitors offer.) But the compact size is a high point for people who value portability: The CM3 measures just 0.7 by 10.6 by 8.5 inches (HWD). As a tablet, it'll be a little more unwieldy than an Apple iPad, but don't forget that it's also more versatile, since it's a full-fledged laptop with a keyboard. The touchpad is better, being larger than expected, thanks to the extra palm rest space afforded by the taller display. It’s smooth and responsive, providing precise control over the cursor and supporting all the usual Chrome OS multitouch gestures.

Beyond gaming, a wide range of notebooks are offered for different needs and budgets, from ultra-slim and lightweight ultrabooks to versatile 2-in-1 convertibles and budget-friendly options. In 2023, Asus had a 7% global market share of the PC market. The Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5 is another Chrome OS 2-in-1 that’s similar in price and provides similar performance. Its build quality is a little better, but its battery life can’t match up.Everyone knows that Chromebooks are not powerful gaming laptops, but that won’t stop us from running the next benchmark, GFXBench 5.0,which is a cross-platform GPU benchmark that stress-tests both low-level and high-level game routines. The CM3 did do the best, but every machine in this test performed poorly, in both the 1440p Aztec Ruins test and the 1080p Car Chase test. If you’re looking to do some gaming on the go, your best bet is a Windows-based dedicated gaming laptop. During our time with the Asus Chromebook Flip C436F, we were really impressed with its gorgeous design, with a magnesium alloy body, stunning 1080p screen, and wonderful keyboard. This could easily rival premium laptops like the Dell XPS 13 or MacBook, and it even comes with features like Wi-Fi 6 support and a fingerprint sensor. Overall, the Chromebook Flip CM3 offers up impressive battery life for such a small machine. If you’re using it as a primary system, you’ll get a full day’s work out of it, and if it’s a secondary laptop, you’ll get days of use. Our take The classroom might be the place where you see more 2-in-1 Chromebooks than anything else. That’s because a student can write up an assignment while in traditional laptop mode, and then flip it into tablet mode to take notes. And, professionals who rely mostly on the cloud will also appreciate the versatility of these notebooks since they’re made to work well with the cloud.
