A friendly, positive first book of feelings for younger children, this great little book talks about how feelings effect our bodies and minds, alongside strategies for learning to manage overwhelming emotions. I find many parallels the Emotion Code process and TimeLine Therapy, in which I am trained, and there is a testimonial about a near death experience from someone who also did nlp and nlp and Timeline Therapy.

A lovely ABC of feelings book that is fabulous for starting conversations about emotions. While some of the letter words are less obviously representations of feelings, they offer a great opportunity to talking about what each means and represents. There are many different types of quiet and this book is perfect for inviting discovery and discussion with children about the emotions behind each of the different kinds of quiet – be it nervousness, excitement, concern or silent awe. A word of caution, though, about the falling in love section. A benign questionnaire to enhance love is followed by a devious sequel calculated to demolish it. My husband and I decided against advancing beyond the first question: “If you could burn one possession of mine, what would it be?” Without drawing breath, my husband looked at me and said: “That jumper [of which I’m especially fond] you are wearing.” A wonderful story for offering children a descriptive vocabulary of feelings and emotions, and for sparking further conversation of what feelings can feel like. This book contains every thing I like in a good book. There are numerous specific examples and case studies of how this process has worked on many people, and testimonials. I particularly like how he explained that certain emotions are tied to certain organs. Anger to the liver, sadness to the lungs and colon, anxiety to the heart, and peeved to the bladder meridian. What's another word for peeved? Although an emotion is not necessarily limited to a specific organ.

A few months ago I attended a Donna Eden seminar, and saw The Emotion Code on sale with her products. I thought, hmm, this is the only product by any other author on sale, so it's recommended by her and must be pretty good.
