Whether you're neurodivergent or supporting those who are, Different, Not Less will inspire you to create a more inclusive world where everyone feels like they belong. Vil spesielt anbefala an fordi an tar utgangspunkt i ein enkeltpersons opplevelser, i stedet for typiske kalde fakta som bøker om disse temaene ofta tar for seg. Everyone should pick up this book and give it a read, broaden your horizons and learn about neurodivergence and disability and how we can better accomodate for our neurodivergent/disabled friends in society!

If you want to read about what it is like to be disabled in a world full of ableism then please do yourself a favour and pick this up.I wanted to give Chloe the biggest hug because so many of the experiences she had were ones I could relate to. With more and more people identifying with autism, ADHD, OCD, mental health challenges and other forms of neurodivergence, it’s time to celebrate – not stigmatise – the beauty of difference. This book is written by a Disney person and for me, the constant references to Disney characters as a tool for illustrating points about neurodivergent experience - was beyond jarring.

I personally believe that anyone - be it teachers, partners, parents, friends - who shares their life with an autistic person should at least read Chapter 3: Sensory Issues, Stimming, Meltdowns, Shutdown and Burnout. As an autistic person who was taught to mask 24/7 through what I now believe was something ABA-adjacent, it's so hard to imagine a life where I am able to function in society comfortably.Facebook sets this cookie to show relevant advertisements to users by tracking user behaviour across the web, on sites that have Facebook pixel or Facebook social plugin. Different, Not Less will inspire you to create a more inclusive world where everyone feels like they belong.

I did find it a little bit frustrating when collective nouns were used to describe experiences when a key point of the book is that neurodivergence is different for everyone. This is a moving, at times funny story of how it feels to be neurodivergent as well as a practical guide, with advice for living with meltdowns and shutdowns, tips for finding supportive communities and much more.So to have such a personal, conversational piece such as this outlining a true experience whilst also providing education and helpful tips and tricks is pretty phenomenal. It was only after a life-changing group of allies showed her that different did not mean less that she learned to celebrate her true voice and find her happily ever after. Inspiring and informative, Different, Not Less is a passionate guide to breaking stigmas and creating an inclusive world in which we all can thrive.

In Different, Not Less, 24-year-old actor, social media star and neurodivergent advocate Chloe Hayden shares the challenges and triumphs of her personal journey with autism and ADHD, including years of struggle as she moved between 10 schools in 8 years, the process of diagnosis and finally the joy of finding her ‘happily ever after’. A wonderfully inclusive - and often wonderfully funny - exploration of neurodiversity that never fails to celebrate the positive, Different, Not Less resounds with the lived experience of its gifted author. I feel like the assumed readers are kids/teens with similar interests to Chloé who would enjoy all the fairy tale analogies and find something new in the advice about school, dating, self care, socialising, and adulting. The areas of life in which I have the highest support needs - parenting and "running a home" (whatever that means) - aren't mentioned.Payments made using National Book Tokens are processed by National Book Tokens Ltd, and you can read their Terms and Conditions here. What I personally got from it was the memoir aspect, I will never tire of hearing about individual neurodivergent experiences. She moved between 10 schools in 8 years, struggling to become a person she believed society would accept, and was eventually diagnosed with autism and ADHD. Excellent book, aimed at young autistic people (especially valuable for girls) by a young autistic woman (with some advice for parents of autistic children thrown in too).
