Robert (Bob) Michael Dawson has spent over 50 years researching and writing about Britain’s Traditional Travellers – Gypsies (Romanies), Scottish Travellers and Irish Travellers and has written over 50 books and booklets about their History, Language, Way of Life, Traditions, Culture, Folk Lore and Families, some under his pen name, Stanley Wallcliffe Tarno. Dawson is the President of the Romany & Traveller Family History Society, (R&TFHS), former Treasurer of the Derbyshire Gypsy Liaison Group, a member of the National Association of Teachers of Travellers, an honorary member of the Romani Association of Australia, and a member of Romany Roots and other related organisations. In The Color of Smoke, Hungarian Romani writer Menyhert Lakatos (1926-2007) shows the life of a settlement just before World War II. The novel is filled with amusing anecdotes and razor-sharp observations about the Romani place in society. It presents in an accurate and even anthropological way the daily, sometimes incredible, life of Gypsies in Hungary. It would not be an exaggeration to describe Lakatos as a Romani Proust. A group of students, staff and alumni from Northumbria University have put together an infographic on how to be an ally and raising awareness about the prejudices Gypsy, Roma, Traveller and nomadic communities face. The authors devoted years of research to photographing and cataloguing the work of fairground artists as well as investigating the histories of the craftsmen and their creations.

Walsh, Mikey (26 January 2015). "It's not you, Some people are Just C***s". Gay Times Magazine. No.441. Millivres Prowler LTD. p.16. Many Gypsy, Roma and Traveller young people feel that their culture and way of life is not recognised or affirmed within the education system. He leído un montón de reseñas diciendo que lo único que hace el autor es estereotipar a los gitanos romaníes, ir en contra de los nómadas irlandeses, poner a todos los gitanos como malas personas... etc, etc. You can't just stop people talking,' Katharine tells me. 'You also need to provide other images and positive messages.'Essays by Rosaleen McDonagh, exploring racism, ableism, abuse and resistance as well as the bonds of community, family and friendship. This is a disturbing book. The author offers a very uncomplimentary view into the life of Gypsy families. Constant violence, beating of spouses and children. Daily drunkenness of males, with beating up each other outside the home too. Hopefully just as an exception, the author was being regularly raped by one of his uncles. Children are indoctrinated regularly to hate 'Gorgias' (non-Gypsies), and sent to school only for a few years (or not at all) to avoid tainting them(?). Males earn their income by extorting (elderly) homeowners, while the only outside the house "work" women are allowed to participate in is shoplifting. Strangely, they are earning quite well, driving late model cars and women clean their mobile homes in Gucci dresses and Jimmy Choo shoes. With all their unlove of outsiders, Gypsies seem all too happy to take good advantage of free medical care offered in Britain for child birth and advanced surgeries. Certainly the whole setup doesn't sound like a wonderful place for any child (or even for an adult), and not in particular for somebody who is homosexual (read different ...). This video, made by Brighton & Hove City Council, looks at the persecution of Roma and Sinti communities in during the Holocaust. In the aftermath of World War One, Ben, Clara and Lotti try to rebuild their lives, As they make their way on an epic journey, some of which on a narrowboat, they search for loved ones and a place to call home.

Philomena Franz—(1922) A Sinti Holocaust survivor born in Biberach an der Riss. She writes Romani tales and organizes literary events at schools where she lives in Rosrath near Cologne. She was the first Sinti woman to be awarded Germany’s highest prize, the Federal Cross for Merits for her “activities endeavoring after understanding and conciliation.” I’ve long been fascinated with the Roma (or Gypsies, as Walsh more commonly refers to them), and was extremely excited to read this book --the only other Roma book I’ve read is Isabel Fonseca’s Bury Me Standing: the Gypsies and Their Journey, which focused largely on the Roma in Eastern Europe. Walsh, by contrast, grew up in England – and, unlike the grinding poverty throughout Fonseca’s book, Wash insists that Gypsies are not generally poor. Norfolk County Council's Gypsy, Roma and Traveller service has put together bespoke training for schools, early years settings, higher education and other providers, aimed at whole staff, including administration, governors and teaching staff.Memoirs don't have to be 100% accurate reflections of the truth, but I believe Walsh took a hell of a lot of liberties. I could be wrong, but right now I believe David Barron.
