Some figures in the 80th line have gotten all (or mostly all) new tooling for parts as needed for the particular character. Nothing on this one is too egregious, but the belt has some slop lines in the gold, and there is a smack of silver right on the left cheek of Colossus’s brightly clad ass, so it can be noticeable. Some readers were upset by the drubbing I gave poor Age of Apocalypse Cyclops in his review, so I figured I’d jump from reviewing the worst figure in Marvel Legends AOA wave 2 to the best.

I’m not sure how Hasbro plans to repurpose Colossus’s upper torso mold (or for whatever characters it would even make sense to), but his belt and suspenders are a singular overlay add-on piece. From his boots to his forearm guards to his trunks, there are sculpted details like straps and wrinkles absolutely everywhere so that nothing feels generic or boring. He's so good I've bought a number of other 80th anniversary figures like Thor, Iron Man and the Walmart Captain America. Really though, it is not much as far as I can tell, it is mostly the arms and hands, which is perfectly appropriate.It still has the bolted neck ring, but that’s been reworked a bit, and this cape doesn’t hover over the shoulders like it did on the previous figure. With this Marvel Comics 80 th Anniversary Legends Series 2-pack, fans can add a piece of Super Hero history to their action figure collection. Yes, it’s pretty tame in some respects, but there was no way Hasbro could have recreated some of the more memorable and trippy depictions we’ve seen in the comic panels.

Magneto arrives sharing most of the body used for the Earth 616 Magneto packed in with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, and that’s to be expected. I will likely not be displaying Juggs this way, but it works really nicely for action scenes and photographs, so good on Hasbro to plus up Cain a bit for this release. In those respects, I like that this thing happened because it bodes well for less stupid looking waves of figures to come. Let’s see, I have gotten two of my favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe character in Grandmaster and Korg in one 80th set, and I have gotten (probably as close to) definitive versions of some of Marvel’s heaviest hitters in Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America, and now I am getting the version of my favorite X-Person of all time that I have been AGES waiting for in the 80th execution as well. Inspired by both iconic Marvel comic books and blockbuster movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, these highly detailed 6-inch-scale Legends Series action figures are a perfect tribute to that legacy. MARVEL COMICS-INSPIRED DESIGN: With premium deco inspired by the iconic X-Men comic issue in which Colossus and Juggernaut first clash, these figures make a great gift for fans of Marvel Entertainment.Of course, AOA Colossus also ultimately runs over his wife and kills her while insanely trying to stop Illyana from preventing the Age of Apocalypse, after learning his sister was dead at the time in the original timeline.

It goes without saying, that I was a huge fan of the first Age of Apocalypse wave, and I was surprised to see Hasbro serve up a second so quickly. A few paint splatters aside, this is a really solid release that gets me the Colossus I have always wanted, and a Juggernaut that is a serious improvement over the prior release. The left shoulder pad armor is also an add-on tucked in place by this piece, and looks terrific covered in a multitude of painted, sculpted studs. Trust me, as a lifelong Fantastic Four and X-Men fan, no one is happier to see those corners coming home than me, and we have some serious lost time to make up at this point.I’m continuing to cut a swath through the endless backlog of Marvel Legends figures that are piled up around here, and I’m more than halfway through the Age of Apocalypse-inspired Colossus Wave. Also, believe the head is carried over from the Warlock Series figure, too, but with an obviously new paint deco.
