Lightning in a bottle. How do you trap it and, perhaps more importantly, how do you keep it bottled up? Monitor Audio’s popular Bronze speaker range, now in its sixth generation, makes for a particularly good case study.

Any extended warranties offered by Peter Tyson are free. We do not include any form of insurance terms such as accidental damage or loan equipment cover. These speakers are in another class. They are twice the price and should walk all over the Bronze 100 speakers. Nevertheless, I wanted to see what you get for your money and how the smaller 15i designs coped with their constricted cabinets. Would the Bronze 100 speakers have an advantage in that area? For surround or rear speakers, place them 5-7’ above floor. Since it has port in the rear side, you need to keep some space from the wall allowing the speaker can breathe. There is no option for wall mounting. Klipsch R-51M has great imaging and dynamics. It is a powerhouse; the cost is reasonable and it is word buying. Top-to-bottom balance is very well realised, too. The presence region isn’t pushed for effect and, as a result, vocals don’t tend to have that in-your-lap projection you get with some speakers. Take Mavis Staples’ singing All In It Together – a powerful and passionate set of pipes if ever there was. The performance sounds startlingly bold, immediate and raw, but without being gratingly aggressive or edgy. Better still, Core Shift from Yello’s album Point probably shows the Bronze 500 at its big-hearted best, the speaker seeming to draw effortless horsepower from somewhere, spraying stereo effects across the room with gusto and launching dynamic swings that feel almost dangerous. Huge fun. On the front side of the speaker there is a thin horizontal slot port. For better bass, place it near walls. That said, low ends are excellent for a desktop speaker. Along with music, this speaker is ideal for PC gaming. Use the speaker stands to tilt them so that the tweeter is at user ear height. This is needed for optimized listening experience. It shows rich and detailed performance. Audiophiles will be impressed with it.

From classical music to movie watching, the speaker can handle all types of contents pretty well. Along with streaming contents, you can easily pair it with a mid-sized TV. It matches well with 27” screen sizes. While placing it on desktops tables or shelfs, you can use the 7 Inch Desktop Speaker Stands for Mid-Size Bookshelf Computer Speakers or 36” stands. This is why I have decided to test the Bronze 50s against a trio of Q Acoustic designs. If the Bronze 50 can, not even win out, but at least do well against this batch of designs, then it will be heartily recommended indeed. SOUND QUALITY The new Atmos topper is an exciting addition. Surprisingly, it's the first speaker of its type that Monitor Audio has produced, and is designed to dimensionally match the 6in-driver speakers - so the Bronze 50 standmounter and Bronze 200 floorstander. It has its own, upward-firing 4.5in driver. Bronze 6G has a starker, cleaner look than its predecessors and, dare I say it, a marginally less luxurious finish, even though the choice now extends to a trendy Urban Grey alongside the more usual White and Walnut. But the notably solid build is much the same as before, the Bronze 500’s 21/15mm MDF enclosure employing strategic bracing reinforcement to limit vibration, additional rigidity coming from the company’s now familiar bolt-through construction where the main drivers are anchored by large bolts that connect to the rear baffle. This has the added benefit of decoupling them from the front baffle. As before, the enclosures use bass reflex loading with two rear-firing ports.

In terms of the nitty gritty, the 15i speakers provided a higher resolution sound when compared to the Bronze 100s. There was more focus, more precision and a greater sense of accuracy from the Martin Logans. The newly designed 203mm C-CAM mid-bass drivers feature updated cone geometries and Damped Concentric Mode (DCM) technology.

Audioengine A2+ is a set of wireless speakers but needs connection between two of them. Build quality is quite good with MDF. It has internal bracing to minimize any vibration. Sound-damping material is used that eliminates any refection within the speaker. It doesn’t have any grille to protect the drivers. The speaker is video shielded so you can place it near any video monitor. Though those Dynaudios have more in the way of verve and rhythmic drive, but there’s still enough of both to make the Monitor Audios an enjoyable listen. Featuring Monitor Audio’s famous C-CAM Gold Dome tweeters, the sound is every bit as crisp as you’d expect from this premium design. The latest developments add a UD (Uniform Dispersion) waveguide for a more focused and precise sound. Now featuring MA’s signature, hexagonal pattern grille, the tweeters look better than ever, too. The Bronze 50s, despite their own excellent presentation, don’t have the same tonal balance as the Bronze 100s. The latter added a certain presence to the music that the 50s struggled to generate. vs Wharfedale 12.1 Active bookshelf speaker come in different sizes. Large bookshelf speakers with larger drivers can deliver powerful room-filling sound. They can be loud enough for most rooms. When paired with subwoofer, the audio regains its sweet spot.Audioengine A2+ is best for small spaces. It is designed to use as desktop speaker with your PC or laptop. It can also replace soundbars in small rooms as it connects to PC as well.
