These have similar properties to hard materials but become flexible and soft when subjected to body heat. In line with BSA guidelines, we recommend that re-prints can be repeated for up to 2 years. After this time, especially with hearing protection, we recommend new impressions at the discretion of the audiologist. We do routinely store scans for periods longer than 2 years and can reprint these ONLY on specific request. Our story began in 1952, where our very first ear mould laboratory was set up for the NHS. We were asked by the NHS to form an ear mould laboratory to supply audiology department’s nationwide making us pioneers of the UK ear mould service. Since then, Minerva Laboratories have continued to be a specialist source of high quality ear moulds and hearing protection. We have always used the most advanced techniques and continue this tradition by specialising in the areas of 3D scanning, design and manufacture. We are proud to be the first UK supplier to use this technology making us true experts in our field.

Availability for this service includes 3D manufactured Hard Acrylic, UV Acrylic, Soft Acrylic, Soft-tip and Silicone including Microflex and Biopor moulds. Also any other impressions scanned upon request. There are exceptions where moulds have been made using manual methods. These impressions will not have been scanned. This high capability system allows us to produce ear moulds of unsurpassed quality and fit and unlike other manufacturers, we do not charge a premium for this service.

Yes – but only moulds made of hard acrylic that have been designed in our 3D department. They will have a unique number stamped on the actual mould which we need for future reference. We retain files for a maximum of 1 year – longer on request. However if the mould was made as an urgent request, it has probably been made in the traditional way and we will therefore require a new impression. Please refer to the Minerva mould chart to find the mould types available for the material selected.Using a highly accurate laser scanner, an image of the ear impression is scanned directly into the CAD software. This is then used to create the ear mould. Scans are stored securely on our system and can be re printed avoiding the need to regularly recall patients. Hard materials are considered the “standard” and are most commonly used. These are generally more comfortable than soft, flexible materials.

We offer a wide range of materials, each selected for their unique characteristics. All of our standard materials are the highest quality, meeting the requirements of the Medical Devices Directive. We also offer a comprehensive range of non-allergic materials for patients with allergy and sensitivity problems. Many adults start to notice that their hearing isn’t what it once was when they find themselves turning the volume up on the TV or having to frequently ask people… Silicones are the softest and most flexible ear mould materials, giving excellent acoustic sealing properties and biocompatibility properties. A preferred alternative to the standard grommets supplied with open fitting aids. 3D digital manufacturing ensures a discreet, custom-made, optimum fit for open hearing systems. Manufacturing time is reduced when the scanned impressions are sent electronically.In line with recent awareness of the harm caused by excessive noise levels, Our filtered plugs provide effective protection with a range of filters. Available in hard acrylic or silicone.
