It's slow, the remote needs a hard press to make it work and the TV tuner on the TV is much superior. The full raft of Sky's catch-up channel services aren't available here, so no Entertainment package for those American aces such as Game of Thrones, for example. Seller has stated it will dispatch the item within 1 working day upon receipt of cleared payment - opens in a new window or tab .

I tried this (before finding your guide), and installed my wife’s old Mac hard drive (not reformatted). Any opinions on whether the second hand box will of will not work (Freeview Channels via her aerial and he usual Catchups via the ethernet) with her set-up? User interface appears much more responsive but this might be down to a fresh install rather than the much faster drive. The first generation of box - the Humax DTR-T1000 - coped well enough, but had problems from the start: it was slow to respond, which detracted from the overall experience, and the fan was pretty noisy too. Multi room subscription finishes today so thought it best to install it in the bedroom for the wife.Although many boxes now offer catch-up and internet TV services, the way they're integrated into the EPG on YouView makes them more exciting. Great to find someone on the internet who knows what they are doing and is spot on with instructions. From my experience just the same size or bigger, the YouView drive had lots of tiny partitions at the front end but the main one was 850GB (this being a 1TB drive). They're the same connections as the old YouView box, so if you're swapping one for the other, it's literally a case of swapping the cables over and plugging it in. This orientation of the box might affect the passive cooling of the other components, possibly improving it!

In the long term a computer-type hard drive will fail before an AV grade one when fitted to your YouView box. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. When any youview box, including those not previously associated or obtained from BT, will do within a few hours of being connected to BT as an ISP, will change themselves to have BT livery, including the BT epg clutter. As a supplementary, does anyone know if is there any method for retreiving recordings off the old drive?

These are audio-visual drives and as you can see from the datasheet here they are very quiet and consume little power. The biggest change with the T2100, however, is that the YouView EPG is much faster than it was on the T1000.

I don't find it that bad, yes its a little slow in operational (painfully slow sometimes and I hate the god awful splash screen that you can't turn off and the 'tiles') but it does have a lot of features that I still don't think are available in any other freeview box (certainly from an app point of view) and it still seems to be supported/updated (despite those updates not always being good. Note to others, when the instructions say wait a few minutes for maintenance mode to appear, it really does mean a few minutes. This is YouView coming of age and with the BT channels thrown into the mix it's the strongest YouView package out there right now. My box hadn’t failed completely but was malfunctioning, unable to play back or use the apps, and I guessed it was a corrupt hard drive.
