Inspirational for those who want to live life differently, a bit shocking in parts for those who don't!

After shooting Wham’s Club Tropicana video by Pikes’s pool George became one of many globally-recognisable regular faces. Sharon interviews longstanding Ransom Note contributor and friend Victoria 'Drama' Saunders ahead of a special fundraiser in her name after a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. Pikes, a hedonist at heart that went from a terrible upbringing to a dream life only a handful of people ever achieve. But in truth it turned out to be an honest to God account of a remarkable place and a remarkable life lived to its full extent .Grace Jones is left to contradict his version of events without him getting pissy or argumentative about it. Many people will regard his exploits as depraved , but in truth they would also envy his lifetime of experiences. The constant references to birds, knockers, good sorts and shagging his mates girlfriends could be a little bit wearing for some, especially in the current climate as an attempt is quite rightly being made to clear out the casual and not so casual sexism that has plagued society since ever.

I loved the way this man enjoyed his life to the full despite pissing off a lot of people along the way and not caring to much about it. Not sure what i was expecting after listening to this…no doubt that Tony Pike is a legend and has lived a very fruitful life that many would die for!

Throw in the odd ship-wreck or two, and readers will agree: This is more than just another great read… its perhaps the greatest hedonistic stories every told. I don’t think Mr Pike is telling the complete truth about how he made his money but this is definitely worth a listen. He'd decided to set his mind to being extremely wealthy and living the life of a playboy before inventing something very much like the black plastic menu board with movable letters so beloved of the British cafe, making a very pretty penny in the process. If you are looking for a book that shares the beauty of Ibiza and the pleasures of vicariously living through Tony Pike’s experiences you will walk away frustrated. The iconic hotelier reflects on a fast life of hedonism and the globe-trotting backstory that influenced his set-up of pioneering Balearic boho bolthole, Pikes.

Fascinating story about legendary hotel host Tony Pike - although when you read this book you'll discover there was a lot more to his life than Pikes. most people live for their children, he lived for that next piece of ass which really is pretty sad. I thought the guy was interesting, and wanted to hear the stories about Freddie Mercury and other famous rock stars I listened to growing up. However, it seems that he does genuinely love the women who have been part of his life and is most likely just being honest and a bit clumsy with his words.

He bought and sold an island, owned a marina on the Cote d’Azur and had been pals with far eastern royalty.

The book barely scratches the surface of Tony’s explorations and accomplishments, even the recounting of his stated enormous sexual appetite was superficial. I have to say ,when I started reading this book ,I thought it was going to descend into the mire of vulgarity. Ibiza legend who founded legendary celeb hangout Pikes Ibiza and helped turn island into party paradise. Despite being written in a somewhat clunky, basic way, and being peppered with crude references told in Tony’s own words, this book is endlessly intriguing. It is at this point in which he decides that the white island is where he wants to settle down and set about building his very own private paradise, much of it with his own hands and sweat.
