To use the kit at home you’ll need a computer (PC, Mac or laptop are all fine) or iPad and some amplified speakers (either through your TV or Hi-Fi, an iPod speaker dock or external computer speakers).

Cocomelon Toy Microphone for Kids, Musical Toy for Toddlers

The CoComelon mic head also lights up when the music button is pressed, a feature that is sure to catch your child’s attention as they follow along to the music! They can sing their favorite songs, and growing up with a toy microphone like this will help them develop skills in both speech and music. With CoComelon’s Sing-Along microphone, your child can explore music and it can even help improve necessary skills like fine motor skills, dexterity, and more! If we're talking about toy microphones, I think it's pretty obvious why they might be better suited for kids than adults. Our three-year-old tester was off-the-scale excited to get their hands on this Cocomelon karaoke microphone. There’s one button to press and hold to make the microphone work, and another button to press to start the pre-loaded song. The only reason this isn't number one is because we already have a karaoke microphone up there, but if you or your kids enjoy the Carpool Karaoke show, this microphone is definitely for you! Even George Ezra would have been impressed with our six-year-old’s enthusiastic rendition of “Shotgun”, that’s for sure. Compared to other microphones it's not that expensive, and it is a truly professioanl vocal mic, so if your kids are really into singing, it's worth the investment!

One of the most notable features is that it comes in multiple colors, so there's an option for you whether you're into blue, pink, yellow, or black! Like the others on this list, you'll be able to use Bluetooth to connect to some speakers to amplify your little rockstars as they put on their show. It does require four double-A batteries to work (not included) and it was a shame there was only one microphone included, but our little testers loved how the Tobi 2 came to life with smiley faces and cool flashing lights as they sang. The microphone itself is fully functional, allowing you to amplify your voice with the push of a button!Right off the bat you can see it comes with fun designs that children will love, but it offers much more than just a fully-functional microphone. As well as all of this, there’s pitch correction (note: this doesn’t work miracles when an over-excited three-year-old is screeching down the microphone), fun voice effects, as well as an option to record and playback your singing. The Hape Mighty Echo Microphone is hands down the best microphone for kids under 5 years of age (and older than 12 months).

Karaoke fans may already be familiar with Lucky Voice’s amazing private room karaoke bars throughout London and Brighton, but now you can get the experience in the comfort of your own home with this rather swanky Karaoke Kit. In reality, it was as straightforward as putting batteries in the mics, connecting the machine to our wifi and familiarising ourselves with the touch-screen. I would do anything around the house or the neighborhood to try and save up some money to get my hands on new microphones. The Carpool Karaoke microphone is an excellent microphone for kids due to the number of features and how simple it is to use. That's because it does such a powerful job at picking up the details of your voice without all the extra background noise. However, just because a microphone does cross all of these frequencies doesn't mean it operates as well for each level.

EKids CO-164 Remote Control for Toddlers, Musical Built

My family emphasized the importance of music with me from an early age, and products like this one can allow you to do the same. With a built-in rotating disco light at the top and an amazing colour-change LED front panel that dances in time to the music, it does a very good job of transforming your living room into party central in a flash (quite literally). Most karaoke machines do a lot more than just play songs, with many in our round-up coming with cool extras like flashy light shows, sound effects, a record function and even interactive games. There’s everything here from the “belt-it-out” “Shallow”(sadly a star was not born with our rendition, but there you go) to the crowd-pleasing “Jolene”, but for our little testers it was the inclusion of the Peppa Pig classic “The Bing Bong Song” which set off mass hysteria. Song choice is also a biggie – after all, what’s the point if you can’t sing along to your favourite tunes? It's one of the best toys for inspiring creativity and helping children develop speech, while making them feel like a rockstar in the process.
