To keep the material looking like new, gently wipe with a slightly damp, lint free white cloth (to avoid color transfer) or screen cleaning wipe. Testing conducted by Microsoft on August 2020 using Surface Headphones 2 with firmware update 1.0.5.74 paired with Surface Laptop 3 and Surface Pro 7. Playlist consisted of 44 songs transmitted using SBC encoding. Volume was set to 46% with maximum noise cancellation. Bluetooth A2DP profile was used. Testing consisted of full Surface Headphones 2 battery discharge while playing audio until the Surface Headphones 2 disconnected from the host device. Battery life depends on device settings, environment, usage and many other factors. This being a Surface Pro device, the webcam is also compatible with Windows Hello, allowing you to log into the device with your face. There’s also a 10MP rear-facing camera that can shoot 4K video. Quality is okay in good light but photographs tend to look a little lurid and are overexposed in bright parts of the frame. It’s not a patch on the 12.9in iPad Pro’s rear camera. Color options include Platinum, Graphite, Sapphire and Forest, with the latter three colors only available on Wi-Fi models. While I don’t particularly care for anything beyond the Platinum color option, I think it’s great that the Surface Pro 9 features a slew of different colors. Microsoft Surface Pro 9 review: Ports

Some accessories and software sold separately. Surface Slim Pen 2 sold separately. Surface Pro Signature Keyboard and Surface Pro Keyboard are sold separately. Only Surface Pro Signature Keyboard has Surface Slim Pen 2 storage and charging capabilities. Surface Pro 9 (SQ3/5G) comes with Windows 11 Home on ARM. At this time, Surface Pro 9 (SQ3/5G) with Windows 11 Home on ARM will not install some games and CAD software, and some third-party drivers or anti-virus software. Certain features require specific hardware (see aka.ms/windows11-spec). Find out more in the FAQ. Tactile signals with Surface Slim Pen 2 can be experienced on some applications on Surface Pro 9 running Windows 11. Surface Slim Pen 2 sold separately. Bear in mind that I’m testing the business model here; the consumer edition uses the very slightly slower Core i7-1255U. This has the same number and configuration of cores but they run at slightly slower frequencies: its efficient cores run at up to 3.5GHz and its performance cores at up to 4.7GHz. I tried both cameras in our office and found them adept at capturing images and video. I was particularly impressed by the 1080p front camera, which managed to add some color to my otherwise pale complexion. The rear camera was almost as good, though the image quality appeared somewhat grainy and washed out compared to the front camera. Microsoft Surface Pro 9 review: Softwarenot available in all areas, mmWave in US only. Supports Sub-6 GHz. 5G not available in all areas; compatibility and performance depend on carrier network, plan and other factors. See carrier for details and pricing. The wifi-only Surface Pro 9 comes with a choice of Intel Core i5-1235U or i7-1255U processors, which have roughly the same power efficiency but are up to 35% faster than the previous generation. That keeps the Surface Pro 9 in line with PC competitors for speed. It’s still topped with Gorilla Glass 5, has ten-point multitouch and active stylus compatibility. And, as with the very best laptops and 2-in-1 devices, it also comes with ambient light and colour sensors to ensure that working with the Surface Pro 9’s screen is easy on the eyes, no matter how long your working day. We pointed our colorimeter at the Surface Pro 9's screen and found it achieves 106.1% of the sRGB color gamut and 75.1% of the DCI-P3 color gamut (the closer to 100%, the better). Color-wise, the iPad Pro’s display covered 117.1% of the sRGB color gamut and 82.4% of the more demanding DCI-P3 color space.

Colours available on selected models only. Available colours, sizes, finishes and processors may vary by store, market and configuration. System software and updates use significant storage space. Available storage is subject to change based on system software and updates and apps usage. 1 GB = 1 billion bytes. 1 TB = 1,000 GB. See Surface Storage for more details. Experience next generation video calls enabled by AI

The Microsoft Surface Pro 9 isn't a bad or worthless machine. It's powerful enough to handle everyday computing tasks, has a decent screen for watching videos and is lightweight enough to comfortably take wherever you go. It may not redefine the 2-in-1, but if you want something that's suitable as a laptop or tablet, this machine gets the job done. In our standard heat test, which involves running a heat gun over a device after streaming 15 minutes of full HD video on it, we found the hottest point to be on the upper right side of the 2-in-1, which peaked at 95.2 degrees Fahrenheit. There are two factory-calibrated colour profiles to choose from – sRGB and Vivid – and I measured both. The Vivid profile delivers a colour palette that’s slightly wider than sRGB (111%) but not quite good enough to cover the whole of DCI-P3 (76.5%), while the sRGB profile delivers 96.7% of sRGB. Colour accuracy in both profiles is decent but sRGB is the one to go for if that’s critical to your work. In this mode the average Delta E colour variance score is 1.14. Peak brightness reaches 446cd/m² and the contrast ratio is a healthy 1,302:1. This keyboard is compatible with Surface Pro X, Surface Pro 8, and Surface Pro 9. Connect it to your Surface Pro Surface Pro 9 options with 12th Gen Intel processor and a storage of 256GB and above are built on the Intel® Evo™ platform.
