I laughed so many times throughout the story and it was a fun fast read that really pulls in the read. Simply bursting with youthful energy, crazy comedy, vibrant artwork and breathtaking creativity, InvestiGators is a visual and verbal delight… and guaranteed to please even the most reluctant reader! Thank you to First Second Books, First Second Books and NetGalley for providing me with a free electronic copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Now, to start with the actual intrigue is perhaps too deep for this age range book – this is not an old bloke walking around a school in a bedsheet keeping people from finding a treasure. But what truly elevates "InvestiGators: All Tide Up" is the captivating artwork that brings this comic book to life.

Warmest thanks to NetGalley for the Advanced, publisher, and the author for letting me read this e-book copy of this title. With a detailed comic-strip format, lots of toilet humour and zany plot lines, you will be pestered for the sequel before it's published. I read this book with my son (8) who is a huge fan and collects all InvestiGator's books--he absolutely LOVED it and can't wait to get his hands on a copy! This can be read as a standalone if you wish, but the series does have some world building - and the series is fantastic so I'd highly recommend them all. And can the InvestiGators unravel this maritime mystery before a second cruise befalls a similarly unfathomable fate? Even when there is potty humor in the book (though I was grateful that there was only one small potty humor part in this book since those are not my personal favorites). This is the seventh book in one of my seven-year-old son’s most favorite book series (The InvestiGators, which we both highly recommend to those who like fun graphic novels 😁).

A hilarious ride with great wordplay, bright illustrations and plenty of twists and turns – lots to keep young readers engaged. I am a big fan of the InvestiGators and it is one of my top reader advisory recommendations that I give out a couple times a week at my library. Book Seven, as it is, gets four stars from me, for these refuse to talk down to the young, fail to alienate the old, and create reads that are certainly not disposable.Unsinkable detectives Mango and Brash are back in InvestiGators: All Tide Up, a high seas adventure that takes the hit series by John Patrick Green to uncharted waters!

Two alligators, thus InvestiGators, are tasked with a new mission to find out why captain of a cruise ship ended up going crazy, and his passengers were missing. I have not found the other spin off series as enjoyable, so I was happy to be back with the original crew as they sorted out the disappearance of the cruise ship. Beyond annoying, confusing to read and I question how much the intended audience would even pick up on let alone understand. When not drawing comics John creates artwork for video games, such as Emerald City Confidential, Puzzle Bots, and Nearly Departed. You don't have to have read the other books in the series to be able to pick up this one and enjoy it, but they definitely build off of each other in more than just the footnotes way. This is the funniest book I've read since Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians, or maybe since the Wretched Waterpark. He was the comics consultant for Disney Adventures magazine, and in addition to Disney has written, illustrated, or otherwise worked on comics for Nickelodeon, Dreamworks, Scholastic, DC Comics, and First Second Books.
