The International Export Version of Yes, Madam!is also included in this set and reportedly sourced from another 2K restoration. The quality is very much the same as the Theatrical Cut, although it does tend to look a bit softer in certain sequences.” 4/5 In the Line of Duty: I - IV Blu-ray offers solid video and great audio in this fan-pleasing Blu-ray release

Frank Djeng and Michael Worth return from their commentary on In the Line of Duty III, and an additional older commentary comes from Hong Kong expert Stefan Hammond and actor Michael Wong. An interview with Donnie Yen precedes trailers. note that In the Line of Duty didn't even crop up in any original title until the third film). Whether or not All four features are sourced from 2K restorations provided by Fortune Star, all with the MPEG-4 encode and certainly pulling the most out of the sometimes-problematic sources. That isn’t to say that the video quality across the board is bad, but these Fortune Star restorations tend to look a bit too flat and smooth to be considered true to the sources they used to scan. However, 88 Films make all the transfers look great nonetheless. The story, as ever, is largely a framework to hang the action on, but this time it sees Khan as a relatively inexperienced cop who impresses her superiors by taking down a robber and is sent to the serious crimes squad, commanded by her uncle (Paul Chun), who doesn’t want her to be a cop. Meanwhile, in Tokyo, a team of thieves led by by a couple (Stuart Ong as Nakamura and Michiko Nishiwaki who simply uses her real name for the character) takes down a jewellery show by a famous designer, killing many people in the process, including the partner of Policeman Hiroshi Fujioka (also using his real name in character). He comes to Hong Kong on their trail, and ends up teaming up with Khan to take the male and female thieves down. Now, In the Line of Duty IV, talk about finding your footing again four entries into a loosely connected film series. Yeun Woo-Ping, a hugely talented filmmaker and stunt coordinator, gets the helm in this story of Cynthia Khan in Seattle after some drug smugglers, and this time Donnie Yen is here and plays a hotheaded cop with a sadistic bloodlust. The humor that usually shows up is replaced with adrenaline-fueled action in nearly every other scene, constantly keeping the audience on their toes and not paying attention to the somewhat-thin storyline underneath. And at 95 minutes, it’s all very economical and respectful of the audience’s time. 4/5Eureka Entertainment have over the years have impressed with their vast collection of Martial Arts titles. That trend is about to continue in March with the release of the third and fourth instalments of In The Line Of Duty III and In The Line Of Duty IV.

The story just barely hangs together, and there are several Ed Woodian shifts between night and day and between locations, but coming to this movie for a complex investigative storyline is like going to a Friday the 13 th movie for an in depth exploration of teenage relationships… even if you DID get that it’s not really the point. somewhat chaotic situation leads to an almost farcical state of affairs where the ostensible first film in the series may in fact not be, I’m running out of ways to say that Eureka continue to deliver the goods in their presentation of their line of martial arts classics. The mono sound is solid if unspectacular, but the restoration of the image makes these movies look better than they likely ever have in the UK. It’s another impressive job. leap toward international superstardom, while the subsequent two films feature Cynthia Khan. If there's a "through line" tethering the films This Eureka Classics Limited Edition of In the Line of Duty III features a Limited Edition O-Card slipcase featuring new artwork by Darren Wheeling [First Print Run of 2000 copies] and a Limited Edition collector’s booklet featuring new writing by James Oliver [First Print Run of 2000 copies]. On disc extras include the marvelous two audio commentaries listed below, my preferred one being the one with Mike Leeder and Arne Venema since their conversational banter makes it very listenable as well as informative, but Frank Djeng also brings his usual wealth of knowledge to the table in his solo commentary.

Action superstar Donnie Yen and Cynthia Khan team up with legendary martial-arts director Yuen Woo-ping in this fan-favourite fourth entry in the In the Line of Duty film series. Donnie Yen does, of course, steal a little focus. Credit to him and Yuen Woo-ping though, they both clearly know this is Khan’s movie, and give her a ton of hero moments. There’s no need to cut around anything for Yen, and that makes his action flow even better. The fight with Salvitti, and finale fights with Wong and Michael Woods (also in the first two Tiger Cage films, which shot either side of this one) stand out, as does what is essentially a jousting match shot on dirt bikes.

Plot

Death-defying stunts, insane action set-pieces, and some of the best martial-arts choreography ever captured on film – In the Line of Duty IV is an unhinged Hong Kong action masterpiece and Eureka Classics is proud to present it in its UK debut on Blu-ray. That idea dissipates though as other In the Line of Duty entries did the same, just with other nations like Japan. Each film gives Hong Kong a superior sensibility, and Khan is capable of making her reluctance logical. It’s part of her character, and transitioning between sequels is easier for it. Cynthia Khan breaks out as a compelling action star taking the reins from Michelle Yeoh in this fast-pace third entry. In the Line of Duty III looks great and is one of the better sequels around. Highly recommended. In the Line of Duty III is barely a franchise entry, but for me it betters its two predecessors. Yes Madam’s action is better overall, but the pacing and tonal balance is much stronger here, and Michiko Nishiwaki just pushes this entry to the top of the pile for me.
