After getting it all pieced together, there’s so much I want to talk about at both ends of the scale. On one hand, the kit is just so massive and demands a dedicated space to display it unlike almost any other build out there. The whole thing stands 31.5 inches tall while measuring 23 inches wide and 13 inches deep on the base. This isn’t going to fit into just any LEGO or Disney collection, but the display space this will take up is certainly worth it. Families will have the chance to celebrate their love of LEGO | Disney by building the other three murals in Manchester, Paris and New York City. Out the front, there’s a swirl of leaves which is a Pocahontas reference, as well as a green frog which is a nod to Princess and the Frog!

Once complete, the new Disney Castle stands 31.5 inches (80cm) tall, a few inches taller than the old version. The new color scheme is quite eye-catching—the sand blue base with blue roofs and gold accents is simply stunning. I’m a bit lukewarm on the light nougat upper section, but there’s no denying it gives the castle a whimsical, fairytale aesthetic, which is exactly what you’d want in a Disney castle. And it does match the real paint job quite well. Innovation [2]– Not the most innovative set as it’s essentially the same design, but there are some things that keep it fresh To throw a few names in the ring: Prince Charming, Eric, Beast, Aladdin, Ariel, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Belle, Merida, Cinderella and plenty more could all show up in 43222 Disney Castle, many of whom are yet to receive an official LEGO minifigure. It feels increasingly likely that 71038 Disney 100 will in many ways act as a complement to this set (if it exists as rumoured). The sand blue walls are by far my favourite feature, and fans of this rare colour will be delighted at the inclusion of all these lovely sand blue elements. She’s not included in the set, but there’s the Magic Mirror from Snow White, which is the perfect place for the Evil Queen. This is one of the LEGO summer waves that we know the least about right now, but that ultimately has some of the most potential for all of 2023. Disney is looking to celebrate its entire legacy with the 100th anniversary celebration, and so there really is so many different movies, shows, and properties that the collaboration can tap into. The set features 8 LEGO minifigures of iconic Disney Princess characters and their partners: Cinderella, Prince Charming, Snow White, Prince Florian, Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder Well-known characters – The set features 8 LEGO minifigures: Disney's Cinderella, Prince Charming, Snow White, Prince Florian, Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder

For those that missed out on the 2016 Disney Castle, this is a huge upgrade and well worth buying, but if you already have the original, unless you can afford it, I don’t think it’s very practical to display two enormous LEGO Disney Castles simultaneously.Illustrated instructions – This eye-catching set comes with a premium booklet featuring details about the castle and model concept, a designer interview and instructions to guide you through the build

That’s an interesting point of comparison to 71040 The Disney Castle but it is far from the only one that can be made. It’s better than 71040 The Disney Castle Image: Alex Nunes Thankfully for someone like me who is not a huge Disney nerd, the instructions kindly point out each and every one of the Easter eggs,” claims Cheesey Studios. The Disney Castle came before 43222 Disney Castle and it’s only natural to compare the two and while some outlets believe the 2023 model to be an improvement over the 2016 build, others were less convinced. That said, I do think it’s also a shame that we didn’t get a fresh new castle – a Sleeping Beauty Castle would’ve been fantastic and give Disney fans who own the original more of a push to upgrade, and offer a brand new experience, but for the 100th Anniversary, I can see why Disney would opt for a reissue of the Cinderella Castle. Prince Naveen is great, coming with epaulettes and a yellow cape, and a great expression. It’s a great pairing that will delight Princess and the Frog fans, but it’ll be a shame if this is his only appearance in minifigure form.If you simply glance at the two models, not comparing them side by side, it’s hard to see most of the differences apart from colour.” Set number 43222 isn’t the first time we’ve seen Disney Castle get the LEGO treatment over the years, but it is the most impressive. The new rendition celebrating the 100th anniversary of Disney fittingly pulls out all of the stops to deliver what I can only describe as one of the coolest LEGO kits of all time. Where the newer one is a big upgrade over the original is in the minifigure department. Eight minifigures, 4 iconic Princesses and their male counterparts are a much more exciting inclusion, making this feel like a proper celebration of Disney through the ages. While this is clearly a display model, I find the size of it all being something that stands in the way of it being a perfect display model,” explains Tiago Catarino.
