It is ideal for locating and measuring moisture problems in homes and building materials such as timber/wood, gib board etc. This mode measures sub surface moisture between 1-3cm beneath the surface so is also well suited to users who wish to test beneath finished surface such as tiles you to search for sub surface moisture problems behind finished surfaces such as tiles where the use of pin probes is not possible. The Protimeter Surveymaster has an auxiliary port used for attaching external moisture probes that provide versatility for additional measuring applications (select from above if applicable):Simply hold the instrument with the pins touching the material’s surface and read the moisture level from the LED scale. The Protimeter Surveymaster features two modes of operation, search and measure. When utilised together, the dual measuring modes help the user to distinguish the sub-surface moisture from the surface moisture, essential when trying to establish the extent and cause of a dampness problem. For deeper readings, the Surveymaster comes standard with a pair of deep wall probes, which can be plugged into the side of the unit.

When determining the sub-surface moisture readings, the surveyors can utilise a set of deep wall probes which connect to the Protimeter Surveymaster through the external auxiliary port. Connect the Deep Wall Probes to the instrument and push the two probe rods into the clearance holes. Hold the rods firmly against the base of the holes while taking the reading (see photograph). In the yellow zone, moisture levels are higher than normal but not critical; further investigation is recommended Wood Moisture Equivalent (WME) values are shown for other non-conductive, porous building materials.
