I also haven't compared the waveform on this to a pre-remaster copy, so maybe it was always like this? Lead singer Robert Smith agreed to release a greatest hits album under the condition that he could choose the tracks himself. For whatever reason it doesn't bother me on this particular record, and from what I can tell they at least kept it from clipping a-la Death Magnetic, but do keep in mind when purchasing that the "remaster" may have lost some dynamics compared to the original release.
