Choose a pumped model when mains water pressure and/or flow are low – or when you are not sure on your mains water pressure/flow. Choose unpumped only when flow is more than 9 l/min and pressure is 2.0 bar. Installing the Flowflex Inline Micro Pump is easy business. Any DIY enthusiast can do it themselves, or call on a professional. At first glance, all shower pumps look the same, right? But, anybody who has spent even an hour or so researching the market to find the best shower pump will tell you – that is not the case! As an aside, due to the immense pressure being put out by this pump I am tempted to re-place the pump so that it is connected right after the hot water cylinder so that it boosts the pressure to all hot water taps around the house.

If you don't need that much of a boost, you can explore putting just one pump on the hot feed, so a single In Line Micro Pump is the one for you. Choose TankBoost for a busy home, or when you need to boost water to multiple floors to achieve that enhanced shower performance, even when other outlets are running at the same time. Improve your poor low pressure tap flow or pathetic dribbly shower permanently with a fully automatic ShowerPowerBooster pump. This pump is the size of a golf ball but does the same job as noisy power showers the size of a football and was awarded Best Water Innovation by Imperial College London at the Institute of Physics in London 2012. Over 6,000 satisfied customers now benefit with the SPB and with close to 100% customer satisfaction it is the WRight Choice. Installation is so easy and safe you should not need a plumber or an electrician. These pumps are typically installed in-line with the existing plumbing, either on the hot or cold water supply line, depending on the desired outcome. With their compact and space-saving design, inline shower pumps can be easily fitted into existing pipework, making them a practical choice for both new installations and retrofit projects. Ideally, a shower pump will last about eight years before it starts acting up and needs frequent repairs. Without any unusual interruptions and plumbing issues, most shower pumps will perform smoothly for at least six years or so. How far can my shower pump be from the shower tray? After fitting the pump: I realised just how noisy it is and once again just how large it is. Even at just 2.3Bar, its pressure is phenomenal. When used with my pull-out spray tap, the pressure is so much that I cant turn the tap to full power, as the spray wets the entire area around the sink. The pressure pushed by this pump is greater than the pressure I get from the mains water supply, which the mixer tap is connected to. Shower pumps are designed for use on open vented hot and cold water systems. Low pressure water is taken into a chamber and fed into a spinning impeller. The water is then ejected at high speed. The impellers are powered by a motor, and the higher the power of the motor, the higher the pressure and flow rate. How to install a shower pump? A ShowerPowerBooster is a very quiet retrofit in-line power shower which power boosts taps and showers (as seen on Dragons Den.) It solves low water pressure by increasing and regulating pressure without major changes to your plumbing. It is suitable for gravity systems, electric showers, combi-boilers, and all other pressurised systems, central heating radiators, boreholes, and solar thermal tanks. It is unique in the world with a UK Patent granted and is exported worldwide. It is WRAS Approved, and was invented by Alan Wright BSc(Hons) CEng MICE. For those that used to advise me to go on Dragons Den – please read the reality of appearing on the programme.

One of the key advantages of inline shower pumps is their ability to deliver consistent water pressure, regardless of fluctuations in the main water supply. By drawing water from the mains and boosting its pressure, these pumps provide a powerful stream that revitalizes and rejuvenates. Whether you have a high-rise apartment, a low-pressure water system, or simply want to enjoy a more invigorating shower, an inline shower pump can make a noticeable difference. CT Force pumps have robust brass ends and brass impellers, and the range includes positive and negative (universal) pumps. Suitable for boosting the shower, bathroom, and whole house. The products in this range include a 5 year warranty and are available in 1.5, 2.0 or 3.0 bar. Cold water is delivered to the cold-water storage tank from the water mains. Cold water from the cold-water storage tank is then supplied to the outlets around the system, such as taps, toilets, showers and baths.A gravity fed water system is identified by a cold-water storage tank, usually stored in a loft, and a hot water cylinder. These systems rely on gravity to force water around the system, with the height of the cold-water storage tank determining the pressure throughout the system. Negative head pumps are where the pump is placed level or above the cold water tank. This draws water from the tank to pump into the shower at a higher pressure. Single vs Twin Impeller System In cases where both hot and cold water are to be boosted a twin pump is needed. Twin pumps have two impellers, one at each end of the pump, one for hot water and the other for cold water. Hot OR cold water A shower pump is a small device designed to boost your water pressure by increasing the volume of water pumped through your pipes. They are installed in homes where the head pressure alone is not enough to provide a sufficient shower.

Accumulator Tanks can offer even more flow than an inline pump, delivering up to 36 litres per minute. The AccuBoost range of accumulator tanks store water at pressure in the vessel and release this water into the system when there is demand in the property. They are available in a range of different tanks sizes, depending on your requirements, how many outlets you want to run at once and what space you have available in the property. Selected models will fit into a standard kitchen cupboard. The cold-water storage tank also feeds the hot water cylinder, where a heating coil from the boiler or immersion heater will cause the cold water to become hot. Once an outlet requiring hot water is opened, gravity will force cold water from the cold-water storage tank into the hot water cylinder, this will then force hot water out from the top of the cylinder, delivering hot water to the open outlet. Link multiple vessels together to increase performance. Only one vessel should be a pumped model in this scenario. Installing a shower pump is relatively simple. It needs to be placed somewhere it can be easily accessed, and not covered by anything. Many people install it inside their airing cupboard, but be careful the motor is not able to overheat. Pressure might be the primary factor to consider as a buyer, but it’s not everything. Another key feature to look for is a twin impeller. Even some 3.0 bar options can miss out on this feature, which is unacceptable for families looking to boost the pressure of both cold and hot water temperatures. You might be able to pass on this feature if you live somewhere with no winters all year round, but for everyone else, a twin impeller is a must-have for a comfortable, balanced shower experience. Positive and Negative Shower Pumps

The In Line Micro Pump is made using high quality brass parts in the main body, with highly durable plastic around the motor. This design reduces vibrations and enables the pump to operate very quietly. Measured at 50 Db from 0.1 metres away, the pump makes the same level of noise as light rain. Use with 15mm and 22mm pipes You need to work out whether you want to pump to the shower only or additional appliances, for example bath taps, the toilet cistern or washing machine. The CT Xtra twin range will pump the shower only, all other ranges are suitable for multiple household appliances. View our shower pump selector guide below for further information. Do you want to boost hot AND cold water or hot OR cold water? Hot AND cold water If there is air trapped in the pipes you’ll need to bleed your pump. To do this, turn off the electrical supply and allow water to run out by removing the shower head from the hose. Allow cold water to run for 5 minutes, then turn the temperature to full hot and allow this to run for a further 5 minutes. A single pump can improve every tap and shower in a home, or fitted to a single tap or shower it prevents the temperature fluctuation you sometimes get when other taps are used in a home. SPB is a new concept in plumbing (there really is nothing else that comes close to it). It is British, with a UK patent granted. It can legally be fitted to either mains supplies or gravity supplies, does not impede existing flows when turned off (it fails safe), has no risk of cavitation, or burning out when it runs dry, or when it runs against a closed valve. If you turn the pump off, you still get the same flow you would have got before fitting the pump. These are all problems which we have solved with this invention and our rivals have not. A twin impeller pumps both hot and cold water. These deliver an even pressure from both sides and ensure you can have a high pressure shower no matter what temperature you opt for. Twin impellers are usually used on positive head systems. Pressure
