Description

The beginning of this novel had me hooked. I absolutely loved the idea of this magical train that truly did the impossible, whether it be the ability of transforming houses for a railway or through the ignorance of gravity. Add on trolls and I was caught hook, line, and sinker. The story began in such a fun and whimsical way. Readers 9+ Readers Fantasy and Magic Adventure Stories Meet the Characters from the Train to Impossible Places series! A train that travels through impossible places. A boy trapped in a snow globe. And a girl who’s about to go on the adventure of a lifetime.

It’s not every day that a magical train drives through your hallway but that’s what happens to Suzy at the opening of this terrific adventure story. She discovers it’s the Impossible Postal Express, responsible for making deliveries throughout the Union of Impossible Places. Being something of a scientist, and deeply inquisitive, Suzy can’t let this opportunity pass and climbs aboard. It’s not long before she’s been deputized as a Postal Operative (by the troll in charge), which in turn embroils her in an even bigger adventure, and one of those magical good versus evil power struggles that are central to all the best fantasy adventures. This rattles along at top-speed and features one of the most varied cast of characters since Hogwarts welcomed young Potter. Fans of magical stories mustn’t miss this train! A middle-grade fantasy and nonstop adventure, The Train to Impossible Places by debut author P. G. Bell is as fun as it is full of heart, and the first book of a trilogy. Suzy thinks she's an ordinary girl, but in the middle of the night she hears a strange noise, sees some weird flashes and sooner than she can realise she is SWEPT aboard a train passing through her very own home! She will soon discover that the odd train run by trolls is actually a magical delivery express for The Union of Impossible Places. And she is on that train to help them deliver their parcels. One star prize winner will scoop a signed copy of the book, and a LEGO Creator train set! Five runners up will also receive a signed copy of the book.

P. G. Bell Press Reviews

I also really enjoyed all of the characters and following their journey throughout the story. P.G.Bell really has a way of developing his characters in a way that the reader can build up a connection. Leaving them wanting more and more. There is normally a character in a book, especially a middle-grade that tends to irritate me. Not in this book. Obviously I didn't like the bad guys but the other characters I really enjoyed. Sure signs that the creative wells are running dry at last, the Captain’s ninth, overstuffed outing both recycles a villain (see Book 4) and offers trendy anti-bullying wish fulfillment. The first of a great new series featuring Suzy and the magical delivery express for the Union of Impossible Places. Join Suzy aboard the train that will take her on so many magical adventures, where the journey will never, ever take you where you expect it to... It is a distinct pleasure to read a fantasy quest that doesn’t depend on a parent being absent, abducted or dead, as the impetus, but instead on the main character doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do. Suzy is smart, brave and caring without being sanctimonious - someone we can all look up to in any dimension.

When Suzy hears a strange rattling noise in the middle of the night, she creeps downstairs to find a train roaring through her house! But this is no ordinary train. This is the magical delivery express for The Union of Impossible Places. Armistice Day: A Collection of Remembrance - Spark Interest and Educate Children about Historical Moments i am happy i read it an so glad i finally am reading more middle grade and it was pretty well done overall. Hello Yellow - 80 Books to Help Children Nurture Good Mental Health and Support With Anxiety and Wellbeing - I listened to the audiobook and I think I will continue listening to them (yes I will be continuing with the series).I'd probably give this 3 and a half stars if Goodreads would let me...but I have to settle for a 3 cuz it won't. Also, if I hadn't already read Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow and Wundersmith: The Calling of Morrigan Crow this year, I probably would have enjoyed this one a bit more. I feel like Nevermoor & Wundersmith spoiled me because I loved them so much....like Harry Potter levels of love...and that's pretty tough competition for a book like The Train to Impossible Places.
