A streaming version of the lead single, " Two Times Blue", was added to Harry's Myspace page in May 2007. The design of it is nice, with thick pages, some black pages with white text in interspersed sections with color fan art portraits of Ms.

Debbie Harry: ‘It wasn’t a great idea to be as Blondie’s Debbie Harry: ‘It wasn’t a great idea to be as

The music was catchy with a crossover appeal and I thought Debbie Harry was the perfect front person for the group. Like daredevil athletes or people that jump out of planes, we’re all testing our boundaries, and mine were very large [laughs]. The people who do this are very brave and I have tremendous feeling for them and for all of us, because otherwise it’s a denial of the human race.Harry also recorded another track with SAW during the same sessions, "Mind Over Matter", which was never officially released. While Debbie's experiences are obviously her own and she should be able to be truthful about her feelings, it's still an odd choice in the current climate to double down on the idea that just going along with sexism and using your looks to your advantage is the best way to "win" in the music industry. Worse, Stein was in hospital recovering from an autoimmune disease – Harry would spend the next few years looking after him – and they were not sure how they would pay his medical bills. We want to know about Chris Klein- not just that there was a relationship- but what came between them- what broke them up.

Face It: Debbie Harry’s cool and forthright memoir

Unfortunately, Debbie skimmed over some of the things I think people are most interested in knowing. The boys in the New York punk band looked cool in their black suits and Converse trainers, and it was a group effort to bring to life pop gems such as Hanging on the Telephone and Heart of Glass, but nobody was in any doubt about who the star was.

But if you’re looking for the face in Face It, and those of anyone else connected with the band or the NYC 1970s downtown scene, check out Roberta Bayley’s Blondie: Unseen 1976-1980, or Chris Stein’s fabulous Chris Stein/Negative: Me, Blondie, and the Advent of Punk, which showcases Stein’s remarkable, too often overlooked talent as a photographer. Their fifth studio album, Autoamerican (1980), spawned such hits as a cover of " The Tide Is High", and " Rapture", which is considered the first rap song to chart at number one in the United States.

Debbie Harry on heroin, rape, robbery – and why she still Debbie Harry on heroin, rape, robbery – and why she still

The artist created a small series of four acrylic and silkscreen ink on canvas portraits of the star in different colors, as well as Polaroids and a small number of rare silver gelatin prints from the shoot. In the early 70s, when she and Stein were coming home after a gig, a man followed them and forced them at knifepoint to let him into their apartment. With all the grit, grime, and glory recounted in intimate detail, Face It re-creates the downtown scene of 1970s New York City, where Blondie played alongside the Ramones, Television, Talking Heads, Iggy Pop and David Bowie. At some point there was a fling with David Johansen, and a friendship developed between Harry and the band, helped by the fact that she had a car and could ferry them around the city, “all so skinny, they were able to squeeze six across the backseat and four across the front. Deborah Harry starts in recounting her early years in New Jersey and how her adoption shaped her view of her world as evidenced by one of her more poignant reflections, '. There are a lot of descriptive scenes of New York in the 70's and name dropping of people of whom some I were familiar with but others that I had to look up. I wasn’t submissive or begging him to come back, I was kicking his ass, kicking him out, kicking my own ass too.
