In My Other Husband, Dorothy captures the cute awkwardness of a university romance and puts it up against mature endearing marital love. Hanging out with her best friend Trina and trying to persuade geeky Heath that she doesn’t fancy him. Without giving anything away, the makers of the film ended up taking the easy way out rather than resolving this love triangle in a satisfactory manner. Somehow the first few chapters read like any other women's fiction book to me, especially because I chuckled quite a few times. I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Headline via NetGalley and this review is my own unbiased opinion.

But now she has decided to walk away from it all - including divorcing her husband, Wallace - before her past secrets catch up with her. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I could not see where the story was going and I like that from a book. Calendar arrived safely in plastic-free packaging - which I've not seen before with a calendar, so kudos for that.

They absorbed the nonsense and made me not mind as much if they went off on random tangents that were nothing to do with me. I won’t say any more as I don’t want to put spoilers in this review but trust me, this is such a unique story – I haven’t read a thriller with something similar, so good! DOROTHY KOOMSON is an award-winning, internationally bestselling author and journalist whose books have been translated into more than 30 languages, with sales that exceed 2 million copies in the UK alone. The dangerous obsession within the relationship of husband and wife and the guilt when the wife found out….

All the words, no matter how pretty, no matter how clever, if they don’t come from the heart, they mean nothing. This book was definitely a slow burn for me but when it got going with the twists and turns it really was an attention grabber and kept you hooked right until the end. The term slow-burn was made for this novel as it builds exquisite layer upon layer into the most compelling reading experience.Usually, this would be a positive for me as I prefer to be shocked than for a story to go down the obvious route, but I did feel slightly let down when a new twist came into play. Back in the present, Cleo finds herself under police scrutiny as murders start to occur that mimic the way Cleo crafted deaths for her Baking Detective series. TW: racism, grooming, paedophilia, murder, sexism, misogyny, harassment, mental health, rape ⚠️ This was a really good slow burner that hits you with twists and turns when you least expect it.

It's just that the story arc follows the exact line you expect it to and, when coupled with the disappointing ending, the film doesn't make much of an impression. I have to admit, this is a huge plus point for me as Brighton is my hometown, so I love reading novels set there. I haven’t read anything by Dorothy Koomson before, but I will definitely be checking out her other books now, and I 100% this being on your 2022 must-read list. A Serving of Crime with a Difference - You May Just Discover Something Unique, Different, or Unusual in These 20 Crime Novels.

There were some similarities especially the whole going between past and present but I still enjoyed the story and the performance on the audible just incredible! Dorothy was featured on the 2021 Powerlist as one of the most influential Black people in Britain and appeared in GQ Style as a Black British trailblazer.

Anyone who has even BEEN to a wedding knows that you’re not married until the officiant filed with clerk of courts. So this is first for my with this author but I've heard lots of great things about her so when I got the offer of an early read I thought I'd take the opportunity to see what all the fuss is about and I can now completely understand why she is so highly rated. Mais para a frente, conforme vão surgindo algumas revelações surpreendentes, a história ganha um novo ritmo, tornando-se de leitura compulsiva. It’s become a popular TV show but she’s severing all ties with the show and divorcing her husband Wallace who she’s still. Heath is really nothing at all as we first imagine, and as his behaviour becomes increasingly out of control, and his jealousy and paranoia increases, his actions have such a profound effect on Cleo.I appreciated how the theme of obsession was used throughout, but I just wanted to see more from a certain character. I absolutely love in books when an author takes a fact, such as this and uses it, expands it and builds a very intriguing interesting character such as this.
