This shows how good the ear and record collection are of Nick who is such a genius in putting this together! The final selection is the eponymous track which clocks in at an hour and fourteen minutes of sophisticated ambient sonics to accompany your next cocktail party.

Warren's taste in track selection is always top-notch, but with regard to mixing, his mixes have always seemed a little disjointed. Those familiar with ambient, techno, or chillwave will be impressed with the more popular attributed track remixes, but the obscure tracks are the true gold on the release. I hate to say this, being the huge Underworld fan that I am, but this is my least favorite in the "Back to Mine" series (Talvin Singh's being my fav so far). Remember when you were a kid and rock and roll or hip-hop or whatever was 'in' with the youth of the day and then you'd go to grandma's house and she'd have this old music from the 30s, 40s, or 50s, be it swing, gospel, soul, big band, whatever, and you'd roll your eyes and make fun?There is an enjoyable pace to the mix which allows it to roll and has enough subtle changes in pace for it to be one that never meanders or plods.

Next in the compiler hotseat for seminal mix series ‘Back to Mine’ is the legendary DJ and producer Fatboy Slim. There are the “mixes” that are record companies way of getting their songs onto a CD in time for the Christmas market just throwing a celebrity endorsement on the cover and presenting it as if this a joint venture and not just a case of them picking the tracks and the celebrity picking up the cheque. Beautiful but not cheesy, rare records but not boring, with the emphasis on tracks themselves, not DJ skills ruining records. Although a trance DJ/producer primarily, Nick Warren also has excellent taste in electronica's more down-tempo genres as displayed in his excellent Reykjavik compilation, and here, his entry in the Back To Mine series.And it's stellar, modern yet hearkening back to those times without being too sentimental and sappy. With seven Top 10 singles, three Top 10 albums and a rich catalogue of timeless songs, including ‘Walkway’, ‘Alright’, ‘Fine Time’ and ‘Flying’, Cast were one of the big success stories of the Britpop era.
