And beyond lies the most fearsome adventure of them all - the tower stronghold of the infamous Zanbar Bone! There's a food stain on the back cover (that could easily have been wiped off), lots of pages are bent and dog eared, someones had a go at pencil colouring in a lot of the pages and the character sheet has a couple of pencil notes written in it. We believe in an honest and beautiful approach to design that celebrates utility, timelessness, and traditional methods of hand crafting.

Further along Candle Street, I found a group of little gnome-like creatures playing a game much like baseball.I guess it is reflective of our desire to see and compartmentalise the world into black and white as opposed to the shade of grey that exists in.

The worst idea in the book - and possibly in any FF book ever - comes right at the very end, where you have to make a choice out of three.By all accounts things get pretty difficult in the second half, but unfortunately we never made it that far, failing to acquire all the needed items before we left the city. You are approached by the mayor and asked to go and find a friend of his who lives in the city of Port Blacksand, the city of thieves that the title of the book derives its name.

As we’ve seen, the police are corrupt, violent crime lurks in the back streets, the masses are ready to turn to vigilantism, prisoners routinely escape from the prisons, many people are clearly criminally insane… At this moment, I thought of forgetting my mission, leaving the salvation of Silverton to another wandering hero. It is so well developed and ceaselessly entertaining that it shames those that came before and most of those that came after.

Stopping in at a local clairvoyant (who, in FF books, are legitimately able to see the future, and not simply hucksters skilled in cold reading like they are in real-life), I was told that it’d be useful to look under the nearby bridge for Nicodemus. A few points: when asked to choose between black and white it was pretty obvious which one was which. Sure enough, I hit a home run and was rewarded with; some gold coins, a potion, a little flute, some bananas, a stick of chalk and an eye patch. Though having said that, there's one unwelcome instance where if you stop to do one thing, the book doesn't then allow you the chance to duck down a side alley you had noticed a moment before. All I want from is pure escapism: an adventure in faraway land on the pirate ship sailing through the wind in the Seven Seas, encountering sea monsters and lost treasures and vengeful ghosts or something that let my coping mechanism have at least more fun time.
