As with the video, the same selection of audio options are ported over from the aforementioned 40th Anniversary Blu-ray, so once again, I will share Mr. Overlooking the occasionally distracting ADR work, dialogue reproduction is also outstanding with precise, intelligible vocals in the center. After getting into trouble in his late-teenage years (in one incident, he supposedly beat up the son of a Triad member), Lee’s mother sent him back to the US to finish his education and hopefully keep him out of mischief. Nevertheless, the fresh remaster of the original 35mm camera negatives is a welcomed step up from the previous Blu-ray, yielding better overall definition and sharper details for the most part.

NEW The Final Game of Death (HD, 223 min) — broken into nine chapters that can be watched individually or in sequence, the incredibly exhaustive documentary studies Lee's life and impact on cinema. My favorite part of Fist of Fury is the park scene where Lee's angry but still grieving Chen Zhen is refused entry and confronted by a rude Japanese man who publicly humiliates our would-be hero. I watched the extended Mandarin Cut for this review, which has long been sought-after by Western Lee fans. In contrast, the English track emphasizes the dialogue, making everything else sound somewhat flatter and giving the movie that comical stereotype of 1970s martial art flicks.

The two have different approaches, with Ying-Chieh’s fights being more traditional, whilst Lee’s tear up the rule book. If you’re on the fence, pick up Enter the Dragon on DVD and try streaming a few of the set’s films on Arrow Player, the company’s streaming service. The Frankenfilm compiled from Lee’s original Game of Death footage and a bunch of other crap by director of Enter the Dragon launched a raft of Brucesploitation imitators. Finally, the clean up work across all, together with the added stability of the complete removal of any judder, is the last little cherry on top of the whole, resulting in a set of images that belie any expectations you may have for these visuals, even including The Way of the Dragon and its chequered visual history.

For example, when Roper is golfing and Williams is getting hassled by the cops, there are segments during the scenes that look so different in quality they appear as if they are from different sources. For more about Bruce Lee at Golden Harvest 4K and the Bruce Lee at Golden Harvest 4K Blu-ray release, see Bruce Lee at Golden Harvest 4K Blu-ray Review published by Jeffrey Kauffman on August 12, 2023 where this Blu-ray release scored 5. The colour palette is significantly darker than previous entries, for those obvious reasons, and it does lead to some instances of incredibly dense blacks. Doesn't quite excuse the lack of scrapping, but it makes the film that little bit more interesting, despite its often-poor execution. The funk-influenced music during the opening credits gets the subwoofer thumping and an airplane can be heard moving from front to the back speakers.
