There are parts of this book that feel creepy, especially once we know there is something "possessing" Marianne. Ghost stories and possession just creep me out, but in a good way when I'm looking for them! So, there parts that really interested me. It was her own “shadow self” trying to drown her because Marianne had pushed her “shadow self” beneath the figurative surface, and the “shadow self” wanted out because the “shadow self” was actually the original Marianne, and the Marianne that is now Marianne isn’t actually the original Marianne. The “shadow self” is actually the first Marianne, but in the end they are actually both Marianne. The story centres around a policeman Jon Pearce as he tried to unravel some strange goings on in a remote setting. The island has strange things happening to unrelated people. I have delayed reading this book owing to a personal preference not to indulge in fiction writing.....what a mistake! The amount of damage (half hearts) that you get from the dark (if the mode is the darkness). Minimum is 2 half hearts and maximum is 20.

Defeat Irusan in the provided Crom Bas Quest mode option for this quest only or any difficulty in Crom Bas. The amount of seconds before the shadows inflict damage to you (when the mode is darkness). Minimum is 1 second and maximum is 10 seconds. The chance that a stalactite creates in The Beneath (higher number elevates the chance, lower reduces it). Set it to 0 to make stalactite stop from generating. Minimum is 0, maximum is 100.This is a new genre for me. Action, thriller with a bit of the supernatural thrown in. I really loved the discriptions of the underworld. The secondary story is very interesting. I really enjoyed the descriptions of the ancient world.

The protagonist Lt 'Dan' Lewis is really the only character you can 'like', but in terms of characterisation, I love the way the author wrote the more pernicious characters. Two stood out, but without spoilers, it's difficult to elaborate. They're so well written you feel like taking a swing for them yourself every time they arrive on scene. I can't remember the last time I gave a book a 1 star review, but I feel so close to doing it for this book. And I actually got all the way through it, so I feel like that should count for something. There is a slight romance angle to this book. I did say I liked the lesbian angle AND I STILL DO, but I really dislike how it got involved in the ending and helped push the ending. It felt like a cop out.Interact with 3 other dead corpses in the room, then talk to Brielle and the mission will complete.

And I really loved the way the romance was written! It’s sapphic, and though it’s not a huge element of the book, it has a good slow burn - it’s hard not to get invested in the relatively slow build. Marianne and Rhiannon [who both have weirdly long names] make for a really sweet couple in a book that is otherwise pretty damn dark. It also just felt like the story didn’t make much sense and I felt myself asking “why?” a lot. Things would happen but, why? Nothing made sense and not in a “this is a ghost story” kind of way. Fortunately the pacing was relatively fast otherwise I definitely would have ended up DNFing this one.Infraorbital dark circles: A review of the pathogenesis, evaluation and treatment.
