Emerica’s pro team has been home to skaters such as Andrew Reynolds, Bryan Herman, Jerry Hsu, Ed Templeton and 2010’s Thrasher Skater of the Year Leo Romero. In the early 2000s, the team riders resided in the Emerica mansion in Hollywood. Which was kitted out with quarter pipes, funboxes, and was essentially a paradise for skaters. Emerica have released several influential skate videos over the years, including This is Skateboarding, Stay Gold and Made. Andrew Reynolds was on the Emerica team for most of his professional skateboarding career, and has released 11 pro shoes with the company. a b c d Renan Porto; Jon Miner (20 March 2012). You can... he is pretty nice. He does a lot of crazy shit in skating. Like, you wouldn't believe it. All he, all he eats is fruit. I don't know how he skates when he just eats fruit and salad... oh, he eats tons of vegetables. He's crazy. [29] a b Kyle Beachy; Anders Nilsen; Foxxyz; Paul "Animal" Chan (2012). I cut them all over with a razor blade to see what makes the ones I really like—why I like the ones I really like—because I wasn't really sure what exactly it was that was making ones feel so much more protective. I went down there with Jeff, the whole team of people, and just kind of showed him, "Hey, can I just wear the shoes? Or maybe you guys could help me make a shoe or something and I could just pay you guys, or something like that. I don't know." I didn't really know. I just was putting skating first. But from that meeting in conversation with Jeff, I think it kind of sparked the idea with everybody involved, like, "Dude, we can help him; he can help us. Let's move forward with this." It's honestly been one of the best decisions I've ever made in my skate career, the way they got behind me and what I need to skate in and a small team of people that really care about the product and the team and what we're doing. It's been amazing. bk (17 October 2012). "Free Lunch (Part 1 of 2): Andrew Reynolds Discusses Riley Hawk, Figgy and More". Skatedaily.net. No Comply Media. Emerica benefits from being a part of the Sole Tech group, as it enables them to use a range of technologies developed specifically for skateboarding. The STI research facility is one of the only places worldwide to conduct biomechanical research specifically for skateboarding. Emerica shoes have features such as mesh tongues and side panels, rebound foam insoles, stabilising heel carriages and single upper panels that reduce ripping. Mesh sections keep the shoes lightweight and breathable while heel carriages and foam prevent injury to the feet and ankles. Probably one of the most important things to look at is the width of the shoe cut. If you have wide feet this area can’t be too narrow. A wider cut may offer less stability to narrow feet but not in your case. Too narrow will hurt and there’s no way of breaking them in. The “Reynolds 3” came out in 2007. This vulc model was lighter and slimmer than his past models, and with less emphasis on heel protection from big drops. Future Reynolds models ( “Reynolds Lights” in 2008, “Reynolds Cruisers” in 2009, and “Reynolds Classics” in 2010) would be slimmed down, sleek models, and Reynolds would maintain an active role in shoe design. The REVlite Eva midsole foam has been added to the shoe to protect it from impact. It also has a heel stabilizer, N2 heel, and ventilation mesh to give it overall comfort. The sole is a bit stiff, but softens after several uses. In an interview for the online series "Free Lunch", produced by RIDE Channel, Reynolds stated about Hawk:New Balance, aside from the skate team, they just have this huge roster of collaborators. You have Aimé Leon Dore with Teddy Santis, Salehe Bembury, Joe Freshgoods. Have you met any of those guys, or is there anything that you're open to working with them on? If you’re a 4E you have a problem and you might need to look for a different type of shoe. There aren’t any dedicated skate shoe brands that make them. 1. DVS Commanche 2.0 Initially a basketball shoe, the original Nike SB dunk lows were adopted by skateboarders and the iconic SB skate shoe was born. It’s a durable cupsole shoe with a flexible rubber outsole, a Zoom Air unit in the heel, and plush and responsive cushioning.

Tongue and collar cushioning, side panel padding: protects the skateboarder’s ankle and upper foot, reinforces the shoe in the areas where it gets the most impact I don’t recommend them for daily wear if you need a lot of support, the soles are thin and flat which is great for skateboarding but not for long walks. It’s fine to wear them for a day but I noticed my feet started to feel a bit sore, specifically my heels (heel bruise veteran here). This is just me though if you don’t have any issues or old injuries they are probably fine for walking. We only manufacture medium width shoes. You may try going up a half size to get a slightly wider fit. WHAT ARE YOUR SIZE MEASUREMENTS FOR FOOTWEAR AND APPAREL? Reynolds has also been a vocal supporter of Flip professional skateboarder Tom Penny and stated in a 2009 article, entitled The Church of Tom Penny:

In short, your feet need to still be able to move a little, but not too much. Overpronation causes tightness and stress to the muscles. The forces that come with skateboarding should be distributed as efficiently as possible. Shoes Need to Breath Lakai is a great skate shoe brand that has been around for decades. This shoe fits most people perfectly and offers a lot of support around the heel and keeps your feet in place when you skate. Especially when you have wider feet you need to make sure your skate shoe has the right cut. Fortunately, you’re not the only one that has this problem and there are many great shoes out there. The Lakai Griffin shoes are recommended by many skaters with wide feet. I did not try these myself and (again) I recommend to fit them at your local shop before you decide to buy them. Width EE:is still considered a wide fit but already a bit problematic for skateboarders. If you measure between 3,4 and 5,4 inches across the ball of the foot you have fewer choices. a b c d RIDEChannel (17 October 2012). The options for skateboarders with wide feet (2E+) are very limited and perhaps nonexistent. The skateboarding industry is relatively small and I assume it would be too expensive to produce wider skate shoes to get a decent return on investment. Your best bet is to look for non-skate brands that offer wide suede sneakers.

Without the huge puffy tongue and the really padded shoe. That whole era was crazy. When I bring one out now and look at it, I'm like, "I can't believe we thought this was a thin shoe." You probably need to repeat this step as many times as needed. Between skating them & repeating the “ice bag” process, the shoes should stretch out over a short period of time. Your other option is to use a microwave. So What Makes a Good Skate Shoe For Wide Feet? In September 2019, Reynolds and Emerica announced they had parted ways. In a September 2014 interview, Reynolds expressed concern over the influence that the recorded behavior of "Baker, Pissdrunx and our whole crowd" might have exerted upon young viewers and fans. Reynolds explained that he'd "like to try and repair that" as much as possible and added: "I feel like that’s a good job for me." [40]
