Description

As the name suggests, the Simple doesn't include many of the complex features found on more expensive EcoAir dehumidifiers. It does, however, have a dial for adjusting humidity settings and a laundry drying mode. The machine is also quiet at34dB - largely due to the desiccant technology. Overall, if you can put up with its increased noise volume and absorb the higher running costs, we think thePro Breeze 20L Premium Dehumidifier with Special Laundry Modeis a good buy. It's definitely the best dehumidifier for drying clothes that we've tested, and anything that makes wet-weather laundry days easier is a win in our books. During our testing process we found it really easy to use and operate, and our reviewer loved the Smart App connectivity (something few dehumidifiers offer) as it gave her a lot more control over how she could use the machine, saying 'the in-App experience is fantastic, the menus are really clear, and changing the settings is simple'. So, we have seen that energy usage depends on factors such as dehumidifier type, brand and extraction rate. Throughout our time reviewing dehumidifiers, we have noticed that higher-end brands are often more energy-efficient than cheaper lower quality models.

Compressor dehumidifiers tend to be the most common design available in the UK. They work by drawing air into the dehumidifier via a fan, and then running the air over over cold coils to condense the moisture from it, whereby the condensed water is collected in a water tank. The coils are kept cool by refrigerant which means the unit also needs a compressor built in. The only downside of compressor dehumidifiers is that they need the air to be warm for this process to work. Most will work above 5°C, but they're most efficient at an ambient temperature of around 20°C (depending on the individual model). It’s functions using Peltier thermoelectric cooling that consumes low levels of power but is also whisper quiet which means that you can run it all through the day and night without any issues. Large Collection Tank: Large 3L water tank automatically shuts off when maximum capacity is reached, and a continuous drainage hose is included for long-term use. As it's a refrigerant model, the MeacoDry ABC excels in warmer conditions. This makes it suitable for heated homes, but we wouldn't recommend it for garages, conservatories, boats or unheated rooms. For those locations, one of the small desiccant dehumidifiers on this list would be a better choice. The MeacoDry Arete One dehumidifiers are some of the best dehumidifiers we've tested. They're quiet, easy to use, work superbly and are very energy-efficient compared to other compressor models. Plus, all offer a built-in air purification function to improve air quality within the home in more ways than one. It's fair to say that most dehumidifiers aren't the most stylish of appliances, which is why the De'Longhi Tascuigo AriaDry Multi Dehumidifier is something of a breath of fresh air amidst the usual boxy white plastic designs. Intelligent Auto Shut Off: When complete, this dehumidifier automatically switches off and the water tank will automatically glow red, indicating that you need to remove and empty it. This dehumidifier is designed for managing fairly low moisture levels in small rooms up to 15m² or 2200 cubic feet, so it isn't going to cope with major damp issues or be able to control humidity within an entire house like larger capacity dehumidifiers. That said, the ProBreeze 1500ml Mini dehumidifier still impressed us during testing, and as long as you don't expect too much of it, this mini dehumidifier has a lot of plus points, not least its affordability. For homes that are exposed to lower temperatures, you can feel confident that this dehumidifier is up for the challenge with the ability to operate between 1 and 40ºC. Furthermore, the desiccant technology keeps operating noise to nothing more than a whisper even in colder environments as low as 1ºC. The best small or portable dehumidifiers are often desiccant models rather than refrigerant. This is because desiccant machines don't include a compressor. While there are a number of advantages to desiccants, including better extraction in lower temperatures, they also tend to have lowercapacities and are less energy efficient.

Other features include an off-timer that can be set up to eight hours in advance, a laundry mode, pull up handle, ioniser and automatic restart function. The DD8L also comes with Meaco's Control Logic system. This helps reduce energy costs by monitoring humidity and only switching the machine on when it's needed. The alternative is a Peltier dehumidifier, which, although not specified, is likely the method the Silentnight 39899 600ml Dehumidifier uses. In contrast to a compressor dehumidifier, a Peltier dehumidifier uses a far quieter thermo-electric process to extract moisture from the air.

That said, if you find the Pro Breeze 12L Low Energy Dehumidifier on offer, and are willing to accept its flaws in exchange for its lower price point, this can be a great value buy that does the job and will make a big improvement to general damp issues.

With a width of just 29cm, the MK5 is one of the slimmest dehumidifiers we've seen from a major brand. While there are smaller options on the market, you'll struggle to find a more compact modelthat provides the same quality and value. It's also very thin at just 18cm, so you shouldn't have trouble fitting it into a caravan or boat.

The unit also includes a continuous drainage hose if you don’t want to manually empty the tank then you can connect the hose to your closest drain. It’s also easy to transport due to being mounted on four wheels so you can push it from room to room. It can't quite beat the MeacoDry Arete One on overall performance, but if you're willing to put up with noisier operation and higher running costs in exchange for its powerful performance, then this Pro Breeze model will make short work of getting wet washing ready for the airing cupboard. It uses compressor technology to improve air quality. It is suitable for larger sized spaces, and the moisture collects into its inbuilt 5.5-litre water tank which ensures that you can maintain water collection throughout the whole day. Large 1000ml Water Tank: Features an extra-large 1000ml water tank capacity, making it perfect for absorbing damp from the air in your kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, conservatory, garage, or office. When I tested the laundry function on the Russell Hobbs 20L dehumidifier to dry t-shirts in a small bedroom, it definitely sped up the drying time' said our reviewer. 'The T-shirts closest to the dehumidifier dried in 3 hours, but those further away took aboutdouble that time to completely dry'. How we test
