We have a Deliverance Ministry that can free people from their demons. Our ministry is called Setting The Captives Free. Newark Park is nestled in an unspoilt corner of Gloucestershire countryside. Most famous for its impressive views, the Tudor Lodge and its scenic surrounding gardens also have a set of spooky tales to tell.

Mystery lies behind the pretty Regency facades of Cheltenham, and the town is home to many unexplained supernatural events including one of the most documented and highly researched cases in British paranormal history: The Morton Case. If you didn't use blue paint on your porch and windows to keep the haints away and now find yourself troubled by the bothersome spirits, how can you get rid of them? According to lore, these are some tried-and-true methods for distracting or getting rid of haints: For those eager to spot a ghost or experience some paranormal activity, Gloucester holds many haunted locations with spine chilling stories to tell. It’s also home to some particularly spooky tales including ghosts, murder, bloody battles, witchcraft and religious persecution. Although the hotel boasts luxury and quality hospitality, guests might also experience activity of the paranormal kind during their stay. Haints are also mentioned in one twilight zone episode “The Last Rite of Jeff Myrtlebank” the townsfolk thought that Jeff was one (correctly it seems at the end) many Southerners suggest that blue porch ceilings originated out of the fear of haints. Southerners, especially in the area of South Carolina, have a name for the ceiling paint used on porches – the soft blue-green is referred to as 'Haint Blue.' The most frequent reports are of the ‘Grey Lady’ who has been spotted walking the corridors of the hotel on several occasions, and then vanishing. She is believed to be a ghost of a maid who once worked there and upon cruel treatment by her mistress, became severely depressed and jumped out of a window on the top floor before plunging to her death in the garden below. Guests have also woken up to the banging of a kettle drum thought to by a small drummer boy.

Haint blue, which can also be found on door and window frames as well as porch ceilings, is intended to protect the homeowner from being 'taken' or influenced by haints. It is said to protect the house and the occupants of the house from evil." (1) Slamming doors, heavy footsteps and menacing shadows are part and parcel of a ghost hunt in Gloucester’s Littledean Jail. Known as the Alcatraz of the Forest, the controversial correction house has been used as a courthouse, police station and prison during its 225 year history and therefore infamy exudes upon visiting. Dean confronts the Witch, " An Authenticated History of the Famous Bell Witch: The Wonder of the 19th Century, and Unexplained Phenomenon of the Christian Era" (1894) by M. V. Ingram, Library Collection. It has been claimed that the Inn is haunted by the ghosts of ex-landlord Bill Claver’s wife and child. Guests have heard strange noises in the hotel, and on occasion there have been sightings of two ghostly apparitions. The word "haint" is also used outside the low country, in other parts of the south, with slightly different aspects from region to region. The castle’s rich history has certainly left its mark on its wearied walls, and there’s no surprise that ghostly goings-on are frequent. Guests have felt their clothes being tugged in the Oubliette room, the pitiful cries of a baby and many have felt the terrifying sensation of being strangled while in The Hanging Room. From the Appalachians to the Ozarks, and from Savannah to Alabama, haints, hanks, booger men, boohags, and boodaddies still haunt the woods, foggy hills and hollers, and darkened doorways of the southern imagination. Tennessee and the Bell Witch Haunting

Sudeley Castle is the only private castle in England to have a queen buried within its grounds: Katherine Parr. Katherine’s ghost is said to still wander the corridors of the castle and there have been frequent reports of a tall lady in a green dress seen around the castle nursery. Bottle tree - The bottle tree originated in Africa and migrated to the US with the enslaved people. The bottles are said to catch wandering spirits at night, and hold them until they can be destroyed by the sunshine of daytime. Still today in the low country of South Carolina, historic homes often feature a special hue of blue paint on the ceilings of their big, covered porches, or window shutters, sills, and doors. There are various explanations for this tradition, but one of the most common is that haint blue represents water to confuse haints, which according to legend, can't cross over water. (1)(2)(3) I’ve said HAINT all my life and never even thought about if it was a real word or not. I said to a friend today that I looked like a “HAINT!” She called in her husband whose mother always talked about HAINTS. They had looked it up and discovered it was indeed a real word. I’ve been reading these articles and laughing a lot at us southerners. My Mama was from Southeastern NC and my Daddy from Boone NC. It’s fun to know the word would be used in both areas. It’s not as bad as BLOODY BONES and RAWHEAD that my Daddy would threaten to call up from the woods “IF Y’ALL DONT GO TO SLEEP!”One of the nation's most famous haunts is based on actual events —the Bell witch haunting of Adams, Tennessee. The Tennessee State Library and Archives briefly recounts the Bell Witch legend and other Tennessee ghost stories in this illustrated blog post, including the "rain of blood," and "spearfinger." Woodchester Mansion, a 19th century Victorian gothic masterpiece, lies hidden in a secluded Cotswolds valley. An architectural dream, the Grade I listed building was mysteriously abandoned mid-construction.

We recommend visiting The Littledean Jail to peruse the fascinating Crime Through Time Collection and the huge array of bonkers memorabilia that can be found there.Over the years, a rich history has been played out within the walls of the beautiful Nomadic Berkeley Castle. Echoing Jonathan McMillan’s comment regarding the tradition of keeping cash on hand to “keep the haints off of you”. My grandfather (who was raised in central Georgia in the late 1800s) would also make the statement when slipping us a couple of dollars. In a beautiful rural setting beside the River Windrush lie the picturesque ruins of Minster Lovell Hall, a former 15th century Oxfordshire manor house. Built in the 1430s, after several changes of hands the hall was abandoned and eventually demolished in the 18th century, leaving the remains that stand today.
