Also ⚠️trigger warning ⚠️ infertility and stillbirth heavily features so if you are sensitive to that, please don't read this book until you feel stronger! I wholeheartedly loved this novel. And while reading the last part, I tried so hard not to cry because I was on an awfully crowded train. So I blinked and blinked and swallowed the lump in my throat. There was one thing, though, that kept me from rating it a full five stars. I longed to read Nora’s POV, too, instead of snippets of her POV in letters. While reading, I kept thinking of her, and I wanted to know desperately how she was doing. Despite this, I highly recommend this story! Rep: biracial Korean-American cis female lesbian MC with retrograde amnesia, white lesbian cis female MC, various white side characters, Asian-American cishet male side character. The story of Forget Me Not was a twisted journey that took a while, and at times it was dark and difficult. Ultimately though, I have to hand it to Alexandra Oliva. Gradually, she manages to knit together a complex collection of themes and messages, pulling off a spontaneous transformation to deliver a stunning conclusion that is both heartfelt and thought-provoking. This is a story that has so much to absorb. It takes place maybe about fifteen years from now, so communication tools, social media, and gaming VR are all in the mix equally with the loss of a child,

Stevie and Nora found a once-in-a-lifetime love despite living in Wyatt, a rural, ultra-conservative town–which is why no one knows about their relationship or the future they planned to share together in California where they wouldn't need to hide. But, then Stevie has a terrible accident, and when she wakes up, can't remember the last two years of her life, including Nora.At the climax—and I’m being fairly vague here so as not to spoil the ending—there’s a moment when Linda behaves fairly stupidly when she is faced with an urgent problem, and I feel let down, but then she rallies and pulls herself together, and I let my breath out and smile. Go, girl, go. Also worth noting that the word lesbian never appears anywhere in the book, despite both the MC and LI being lesbians.

I begin my journey in the south-west of England, where I take a short train and cycle ride to Bodmin Moor to see one of the UK's rarest species of butterfly, which is persisting deep in the heart of the Cornish mire despite unimaginable challenges. There's also a brief thing where "it's sexist to assume G.H. is a man" and yet Linda continues to refer to G.H. with he/him pronouns. Other than that though, I really enjoyed this book. There's a little bit of sad but a lot of love, of choosing your own way and making decisions that will set you on a brighter path. There are a few other weird moments re: race in the first 25%, too. When Anvi invites MC Linda to play VR games with her, Linda is creating a character for a fantasy RPG and freaks out at the mention of "race" as a part of character design. (Because Linda is white and Anvi is not) Linda has lived a very solitary life never wanting to let anyone in and feeling unloved in her adult life. She has been bullied and made fun of for who she is.

As an adult Linda struggles to connect not only with the world, but with the people in it. In a highly tech driven world, she doesn’t really understand social media and is frankly a little scared of it because of the horrible treatment she received in the court of public opinion because of who she is, how she was conceived, and why. A unique, original, mind bending story of a colon girl l( or not, we’re getting there, promise!) who has been brought out the world to replace her death sister(really? Okay I can see thought balloons start to appear above your head, just keep on reading! It will get more interesting at each chapter) raised herself at 20 acre walled off property at rural Washington. She belongs to woods, that’s where she feels at home, free, relaxed and happy. A romantic ode to the strength of love and the power of choosing each other, against odds and obstacles, again and again. Staying in Wales and heading north to Snowdonia, I snorkel the freezing waters of the Irish Sea to find out why seagrass is fast becoming the habitat that we cannot afford to lose. Stevie’s journey was one I love a lot. She rediscovers herself because she has to. She’s forced into compulsive heterosexuality by her horrible ‘best friends’ who didn’t know that Nora existed, but also because they’re cruel, uncaring, and racist people. I hated the way her friends just manipulated Stevie because she couldn’t remember. And they were so racist to her face and they didn’t care. That made my heart hurt for her.

Table of Contents

I have quite a few issues with Lizzie, though. She makes big mistakes... and her brother Matt?? Well he woke up and chose violence. Charles i LOVE but i wish he had more flaws! I would HIGHLY recommend this book to those who enjoy character driven pieces whose characters aren’t just caricatures of the people we meet and see on a daily basis. Now at 24, she is trying to learn how to live on her own in the world while all her instincts scream for her to remain isolated. Can she safely take a walk, go grocery shopping, maybe even make a friend, without being recognized and hounded? There are so many pieces of the puzzle of her life that remain unanswered. Why? Why? Why? And now it is reported that her former home has been set ablaze...accident or arson?
